I have yet another nail art look with one Essie Silk Watercolor polish to share with you guys today.
For this look I used three coats of China Glaze Meet Me Under the Stars as my base color. Then I applied white water decals on top of the China Glaze polish and finally sponged on my tips Essie Silk Watercolor polish in the shade of Pen and Inky.
I've done couple of looks before where I've had black base color and white water decals and then I have done a gradient using two of these watercolor polishes. This time I wanted to leave some of that white from the water decals visible, so I only sponged half of the nail with Pen and Inky trying to do a bit of that gradient effect to the middle of the nail.
The polish that I used under the water decals - China Glaze Meet Me Under the Stars - is from the Holiday 2014 collection and it has silver and black glitter in a clear base. This looked quite beautiful in some swatches, so I decided to buy it quite a while ago. Then it just sat in my untried polishes box for a long time before getting on my nails now. Unfortunately I have to say that I wasn't really happy with it and to be honest, it doesn't look that good in real life. It's a bit weird polish, usually pretty much anything tends to look better in real life than in pictures, but not this one. It looks pretty in this picture and in pretty much every other picture I've seen, but I thought it didn't look near as pretty on my nails. It was also a bit tricky to work with and I needed three thick coats for full coverage. I also had to use quite a bit time while applying it to get it on the nails evenly. It's the clear base that makes it hard to apply it evenly. Yup, this one didn't really impress me.
Even if I didn't really like that China Glaze on its own, it looked good as a base color for the nail art look - probably also because you can't really see much of it here... Oh well, those silver glitter still shine beautifully under the water decals. One thing I do love are these Essie Silk Watercolor polishes and especially this Pen and Inky one. I've used it quite often and I never seem to get tired of it. I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again, I really love all the possibilities these watercolor polishes give. They can be easily used for number of different nail art looks.
