Turquoise & Gold

Today I have some nail art for you guys! For me water decals are the quickest and easiest way to decorate your nails but nail vinyls are probably the next choice if I want something quick and easy but still pretty on my nails.

For this look I used first three coats of Zoya Jules as my base color. I've had Jules on my wishlist for quite a while and I finally got it, but I have to say I was a tad disappointed with it. It sure is a beautiful color, don't get me wrong, but unfortunately it has quite thin and watery formula. I used thee coats here and I think I should have used fourth coat on those nails that I didn't decorate too much since it wasn't still really opaque. It's really a shame as it is such a gorgeous color.

I used Mi Vinyls nail vinyls designed by Krista for this look with Essie Garden Variety, Color Club Blue-Ming and there's also Picture Polish Lagoon in the mix too eventhough it's not really that visible.

Oh and I have great news for all you international ladies: the Finnish Mi Nails has now also an online shop for international customers, so you can get these and all the other awesome nail vinyls too! They also sell MILV and Bluesea water decals and ÜberChic stamping plates and mats for a very reasonable price, just to name a few. So be sure to check it out!

Overall I really liked this look. Turquoise and gold is always such a beautiful color combination and you can't really go wrong with it!

What Does the Fox Say?

I couldn't really start a fox manicure post with any other title, right?! I was at the I Love Me fair on Saturday and it was really a nice surprise that MILV was also there selling their decals. They hadn't really invested much to their stand, they only had a wide selection of the decals there and one person selling them, so it didn't look particularly inviting. Though of course I headed there as soon as I saw it since I knew what it was all about. They had quite nice offers going on, so I ended up buying 12 sheets of decals, oops. Well, I know they are really good as I've used them before and they are a bit different from all the other decals, so I'd say my purchase was perfectly acceptable.

These fox water decals were the first ones I laid my eyes on and they were really my favorite ones out of the whole stand. I had to use couple of them right the next day, so I did this simple mani with the decals and Essie With the Band. I used Gina Tricot White under the decals, since these are the ones that you are supposed to use only with a white base.

I love these little fellows so much, aren't they just so cute? And the Essie looks just wonderful with the decals, this really turned out to be pretty perfect fall manicure. I have quite a few previous manis still to show you, but I just had to post these first as I loved this manicure so much! I know it's really a simple one, but nevertheless I love it.

If you haven't ever tried any of MILV decals, I highly recommend that you do. They have really great quality and I've been happy with every decal I've tried from them. If you have tried full nail decals from some other brand and found them hard to apply, I would still recommend you to try these. I think these are the easiest full nail decals I've ever used. They are so easy to apply and they work fine for my quite curved nails too. You can already buy these from quite a few places, I've bought MILV decals before from Hypnotic Polish and CesarsShop, but they do have their own online store too (though I think it's only in Russian) and there are plenty of other retailers too.

Here's the whole set I bought from the I Love Me beauty expo (without the foxes though as they were already on my nails). So I think you will be seeing some water decal manicures here in the future too, hope you don't mind!

Have you guys tried MILV water decals already?

Zoya Storm (+alevinkki!)

My love for Zoya scattered holos is no secret as I've named Zoya Dream as my ultimate favorite polish of all times and I've also been loving Payton from the same Zenith collection as well as Aurora and Blaze from the Ornate collection. I've been missing one of the scattered Zoya holos though and only just few months ago I finally bought Zoya Storm to complete my Zoya scattered holo selection.

The reason why I didn't buy Storm earlier is simply because I'm not too good at wearing black polishes. I've tried it over and over again and somehow it always feels just too dark for me, even if the polish has something else in it than just plain black. I use quite a lot of black polishes though, but I rarely paint my nails with just them. But as those other scattered holos by Zoya have been so impressive, I finally decided that I should give Storm a chance too.

And I have to say that I'm so happy that I gave it a chance! It's a gorgeous black and I think I finally found a black polish that even I can wear alone. As a matter of fact I've been wearing Storm alone for few days already this week and I've been totally in love with it! Storm is a very easy polish to work with, I used two effortless coats here, it applied just as it should and I had very little cleaning to do afterwards.

Zoya, you should definitely do more of polishes like Storm, Dream, Aurora, Blaze and Payton. How about a gorgeous turquoise scattered holo, huh? I'd certainly buy that!

Edit 19.10. / Alekoodin voimassaoloaikaa on pidennetty ja tarjous on voimassa sunnuntaihin 25.10. asti eli vielä ehtii Zoya-ostoksille alehinnoin jos et messuhulinoissa muistanut tilausta tehdä!

Postauksen lakan olen ostanut ihan itse, eli tämä ei ole millään tavalla maksettu mainos, ainoastaan pieni vinkki kaikille, erityisesti jos NailCityn poissaolo I Love Me -messuilta harmittaa. Messuilemaan olen suuntaamassa huomenna, onko täällä muita messuille lähtijöitä?

Three (plus one) great things about writing a blog

There are of course million good reasons why one should write a blog starting from your interest into the subject to having a great hobby and everything in between. Today I wanted to share three (plus one) great reasons that have all made me very happy about owning this particular blog.

Number one: Awesome blogger event
Just the other day I had the opportunity to participate yet another great blogger event. Usually I've been to events that have been for nail or beauty bloggers, but this time the event was for all local Joensuu (the city where I live) bloggers with theme 100 % flow and glow for fall. There was a great mix of all different bloggers: beauty, lifestyle, fashion, nail, fitness and so on.

We spent the evening at Botania Joensuu, which is this beautiful botanical garden here in Joensuu. The event was organized by GreenStreet JNS and Rokita. We had the pleasure of tasting some great GreenStreet JNS raw cakes (hello tasty raw snickers cake, oh so delicious!), trying to make some raw chocolate our selves (ours wasn't really that tasty, but it was definitely made with love nonetheless) and of course spending time with awesome company in beautiful garden surroundings. Of course it was nice surprise to get to go home with a goodie bag and I'm especially interested in trying out those Esse samples as well as the Lush products. BUT the most important things to me about these type of events are always the blogging community, spending time with great company and learning new things. So this was definitely a great evening and really a great thing that happened because I write this blog!

Number two: Another awesome blogger event
You are probably already getting the hang of this post and my list, huh? Few months back we had the opportunity to visit again Glitter store here in Joensuu. I did take some great pictures of the event and got some great tips from the evening, so eventhough the event was a few months ago, I still wanted to share a little bit about it with you. This was a small scale evening with few other nail and beauty bloggers and the main objective was just to visit the local Glitter store and get some hair and accessories tips for summer. We had already done the similar thing before and found it to be a really great event, so of course we had to do it again as soon as Glitter published their new hair guide.

I'm not too good a doing my hair, I usually go with something really simple. So it's always great to have some tips for that.
Once again this was an awesome event that happened to me bevause I write this blog. BUT if you don't happen to have a blog and would still like to have similar event with you friends, I have great news! Glitter offers the opportunity to have your birthday party or VIP shopping evening with your friends at any Glitter store, you can read about it more in Finnish from Glitter's blog. So of course you can also participate these type of events even if you don't own a blog, but all I'm saying, is that writing a blog really makes you part of the blogging community.

Number three: Yet another awesome blogger event
This third event is probably the best example of the awesome community of bloggers. This event was already in spring but what a great day it was! #turkumiitti gathered plenty of beauty and nail bloggers all around Finland into Turku and we spent the day with great company and great surroundings in Panimoravintola Koulu. We got to hear a bit more about IDUN Minerals, Essie and new hair trends. It was pretty much on the other side of Finland from where I live and I had to travel for quite a bit to get there, but it was totally worth it! I loved every single bit of the day and I totally appreciate all the effort that Jonna from Nonnula made for us to have this great event with the help of Päivi from Neiti Kameleontti and Nea from Fashioned in Finland

We got to go home with an incredible goodie bags and I've been trying out all the lovely products ever since. I already wrote about the Essie spring collection which I got from this event, but I still have some other product reviews coming up.

It's sometimes a bit hard to live here in such a remote town as it feels like everything is happening somewhere else but here. Of course we have had some great events here too, but most of them had to be organized by ourselves as otherwise there wouldn't really be almost anything happening here. But the great thing about all these events is that I have never ever regretted of going any one of these even if they are far away. I've said it already in this post quite a few times, but I'm going to say it again: the blogging community is really the best and one of the most important things why I go to these type of events. So, if it's big or small, if you ever have a chance to go to an event like these, I highly recommend it! I'm sure you will love it and have a great time.

The community and the great friends that I have gotten because of all this are truly the greatest thing about writing a blog.

JORD Wood Watch

Today I have something extra special for you guys! I was contacted by JORD asking if I wanted do a review of one of their wood watches. How could I even had said anything else than yes?! Wood watch sounded immediately intriguing and I was sold as soon as I went to JORD's website and saw the watches and their whole collection. All the watches looked really gorgeous, well made and I loved the design, branding and all that.

*Provided for review

I got to choose the watch I wanted to review from a pretty wide selection. I went through all the choices very carefully and honestly it was quite hard to choose just one. I could have gotten all of them! Finally I decided to go with Fieldcrest series Zebrawood & Maple as I thought it was simple and neutral enough to suit many styles and manicures.

It didn't take long for the watch to arrive eventhough I waited quite anxliously for it. It came in this beautiful  carved wooden box which is really perfect for storing the watch or even some other jewellery. It comes with a cute little pillow, a cloth to wipe your watch and a warranty card. JORD also offers to size your watch before sending it out to you, so you don't have to get it sized when you get the watch. They provide a printaple JORD wrist sizer to make the measuring really easy. You also get thos extra links just in case you need to adjust the sizing.

My watch is made out of zebrawood and maple. JORD has plenty of info about the all the woods that they use on their website and you can even categorize the watches by choosing which wood you would want your watch to be made of. They do have such a wide selection of wood watches in all kinds of different woods and designs, for both men and women. There's definitely something for everybody!

I wanted something simple and elegant and the Fieldcrest series watches are definitely that. I love how the grains of the zebrawood make it look so interesting! The beautiful maple and zebrawood really compliment each other, it's truly a perfect match.

The dial plate is a tad bigger than I'm normally used to, but it still fits me perfectly. The watch is incredibly light weight and the wood feels really comfortable to wear. I've been wearing this watch for few days now and it has gotten many compliments and surprised reactions. It is definitely a statement piece and what a gorgeous one it is. All the JORD watches are hand-crafted and they do look like every little detail is meticulously thought of. You can see and feel the quality when wearing this watch as every little piece fits perfectly together.

I'm a watch person and I rarely go anywhere without a watch. I'm usually used to metallic watches, but I also always want my watch to have something special as I do wear them so often. This Jord definitely is something special, I've been admiring it ever since I got it and I just want to wear it all the time. I think I was completely right when I choose this exact one as it really suits all the styles and colors. Past few days the watch has been the perfect fit with all my outfits and manicures. I'd say this is truly a watch that you can wear with everything!

I'm wearing the watch here with Essie Sand Tropez, Picture Polish Dorothy, Cadillacquer Where The King Goes, The Realm Follows and Zoya Storm, so it really goes well with anything!

JORD watches can be purchased from their website www.woodwatches.com and they offer free shipping worldwide. If you are looking for a perfect gift or just want to pamper youself a bit, I highly recommend to take a look at JORD.

Do you guys like this watch as much as I do? Which one of the JORD watches is your favorite?

Dance Legend Top Aquarelles

I have still some manicures to post that I did during summer and didn't have time to post them then. I did this mani mainly because I wanted to play with the four Dance Legend Top Aquarelle polishes that I own. Also, Marta from ChitChatNails posted her gorgeous Essie Silk Watercolor manicure on June and I wanted to do something similar.

I used two coats of Essie Blanc as my base color. Then I applied two black flowery water decals on each nail and topped them with a coat of top coat. Finally I just painted with the Top Aquarelle polishes on top of the white base. I tried to use a tiny amount of each polish and short brush strokes to achieve that watercolor look, but I did these in a bit of a hurry and I honestly the final outcome wasn't really what I was going after. I think I just used a bit too much of each Aquarelle polish, so the brush strokes and the watercolor feel isn't that visible.

Nevertheless, this was great colorful look and pretty perfect for summer! The four Top Aquarelles that I used are: Chagall (purple), Matisse (orange), Monet (pink) and Sisley (turquoise).

I have to say that I really love this watercolor nail polish trend, they are really fun to play with and there are numerous possibilities that you can use them for! Though I might have gotten a bit carried away and ordered the whole Essie Silk Watercolor collection...

Polishes: Essie Blanc (2 coats), Dance Legend Chagall, Dance Legend Matisse, Dance Legend Monet, Dance Legend Sisley

What do you guys think about these type of watercolor polishes? Do you own any?

Kiko 335 Ink Blue with Plenty of Glitters

First I need to tell you a little story about how I ended up really hating OPI Just Lanai-ing Around. It has really nothing to do with today's post, but I have to tell this to you to get it out of my system.

So, I had bought Just Lanai-ing Around a while back and tried it on. I didn't really like the color on me at all and so I didn't even take pictures of it. The other day I was doing some destashing and so I put Lanai-ing into the selling box also with plenty of other polishes. Then I needed to do some cleaning around the house and I decided that I didn't have time to figure out what to do with the box of polishes, so I thought I'd put it into my closet for a while and figure it out later. Well, of course the box fell out of my hands with all the polishes falling all over the place. And as you might have guessed already, surely it was Lanai-ing Around that broke into million pieces and made a horrible mess. There was this awesome spatter pattern all over my painted wood floor, some spatters on the baseboard and the wall and of course all the other polishes that fell out the box to the floor were all covered with the not-so-pretty mauve color. If you haven't ever tried it, I can tell you that it isn't the easiest task to remove dried polish from a painted floor without removing the paint altogether.

I had never before broken any nail polish bottles and I have to say that I didn't even realize how much polish could fit into one tiny bottle and how big of a mess one bottle of polish could make. Nothing else really worked for the removing of the polish than just a regular nail polish remover with acetone in it, so I spent quite a few hours yesterday removing the polish really carefully trying not to mess the paint of the floor at the same time. So yeah, it's safe to say that I hate hate hate Just Lanai-ing Around. I never liked it anyway and after this I will never, never ever and ever ever even want to see it. Did I already say that I hate it?! Oh yes, I did... Such a stupid name also... *mumbling*

Now that I have gotten that story off my chest we can concentrate on today's manicure. After seeing Sammy's glitter placement nail art at The Nailasaurus I wanted to do the exact same thing on my nails, it looked so cool! Unfortunately I don't own any of those diamond shaped glitters, so I couldn't really copy the mani exactly. I had to go with what I had on hand and do some glitter placement nail art with hex glitters.

I used one of the Kiko polishes that I bought from my summer trip to Barcelona. This gorgeous blue jelly is number 335 and it's called Ink Blue. This has pretty awesome formula as it coveres with just two coats and it's crazy shiny with beautiful deep blue color.

I did the glitters only on my middle and ring fingers since I wanted to spare myself a little as it took a while do the two nails on both of my hands. Also I do like the accent nail/accent nails look in general and it works in this mani too. At first I tried to place the glitters in perfect pattern, but my hex glitters are some cheap kind and they aren't all exactly the same size, so in the end I just ended up placing them on my nails quite randomly. I still like the end result though, I think it looks so fun! I ended up with some little bubbles after applying the top coat, but those didn't really bother me too much since they weren't that visible in real life.

Picture Polish Arabian, Big Band and Cabaret

Like pretty much all the nail polish world, I was also drooling over almost every single new Picture Polish shade as soon as they were released. I managed to limit myself a bit and I bought just three out of the eight new PP shades, though I'm pretty sure I'm going to need couple more... Anyhow, I have my swatches of my picks: Arabian, Big Bang and Cabaret to share with you guys today!

Picture Polish Arabian is a beautiful dark crimson red scattered holo with a touch of gold spark. This one was created with Didoline and the inspiration is quite clearly her arabic roots. It's truly a stunning red and I love everything about it! It has a perfect formula and it covered my nails completely with two easy peasy coats. I even love the font of the name, it's truly the final touch which makes it perfect.

Picture Polish Big Bang is a dark blueish purple scattered holo with iridescent flakes. This one was made with La NPA Mouton and it's really another stunning shade! I used three coats here though maybe you could get away with just two little bit thicker coats. This is simply a beautiful and unique shade, I love it!

Last but not least is Picture Polish Cabaret which is a dark burgundy scattered holo with some hex holographic glitters added to the mix. Cabaret was created with u_nona and I feel like I'm repeating my self, but this is yet another stunner! I'm always loving these type of burgundy scattered holo polishes, so this one is right up my alley. I used three easy coats here. It dries a bit gritty so you'll need to apply a coat of top coat to make it smooth. It's official, three out of three, I love them all!

Which one of these three or the other new PP shades is your favorite? Did you buy any of these new shades?

Keep Calm and Carry On

No matter how good the original idea, sometimes a manicure just doesn't work. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who sometimes ends up looking at a finished mani with only one thought: what on earth did I just do. Or sometimes it's maybe more something like why on earth did I just do that... Anyhow, today I wanted to share three manis that all had something wrong with them. You can't get it always right. I'm sure we've all had those days that nothing goes as you had originally planned.

This first one is a tad older mani that I did for some  nail art contest a while back. It might look nice at first glance with all the sparkle of the beautiful FUN Lacquer polishes, but when you take a closer look you might begin to see all the things that didn't go right with this manicure. I certainly didn't enter this one to the competition and I removed it as soon as I had taken couple pictures of it.

I tried to do some sort of gradient to my index and pinky nails, didn't really succeed in that... All I ended up was some clumpy nails with three different sections. Then I tried to do some fishtail nail art type of thing to my other nails, but that didn't go right either. FUN Lacquer Million Dollar Dream, Royal Chapel and Secret are the type of polishes that don't really work for something like this. I had to use quite a few layers of each of them and then I ended up with a really clumpy result. I don't know why I originally even thought they would work for this. Or maybe that's the thing, I didn't think anything. Just to make it even more better, you can't really even see the whole pattern I was trying to do since the polishes aren't just fit for this sort of thing.

This second one is more resent mani with two Essie Fall 2015 polishes Leggy Legend and Bell-Bottom Blues. I thought that Leggy Legend wasn't really the best match with my skintone, but I still wanted to wear it as it is a gorgeous shade. I thought matching it with the beautiful blue from the same collection would make me like it on me more, but that didn't happen. Somehow the colors are just wrong and I also messed up the quatre foil pattern AND the top coat I used made the mani bubble a bit... So yeah, pretty much everything went wrong here and I didn't wear this look either for long.

The last one is pretty much the classic example of everything going a bit wrong. There's nothing wrong with the two polishes I used, both Vivid Lacquer Theoretical Statue and Zoya Tomoko are beautiful polishes, but that's pretty much everything that is good in this manicure. This was supposed to be a quick and simple look that I could wear to the office. Somehow I ended up choosing those rose water decals that don't really go well with either of the polishes. Then I tried to make it more interesting by placing the accent nail decal to the other side than the other decals on other nails... And to top it all off I managed to ruin the water decal on my index nail when applying top coat. I tried to fix it with a bit of Tomoko on top to make it sparkle so you wouldn't see that the decal is broken, but that didn't really work at all.

It safe to say that these weren't really my best manicures... I know they might look just nice especially if you don't look too closely, but I'd definitely count these all to the fail section as they didn't turn out anything like I had in mind when I started each of these manicures.

What do you guys do when you end up with a mani that you don't really enjoy? Do you just stick it out and wear it anyway or remove it right away and try something else?
