#ablecs15 Week 6: Nothing But Purple

Oh my, it's almost the end of the week already and once again I haven't posted either of my challenge manicures of this week yet. Somehow I have ended up doing the challenge posts at the very end of the weeks lately, but I promise I'm trying to fix that. But in the meantime, I have my first mani of week six to share with you guys today.

The themes of week six are I Thought I'd Never and Nothing But Purple, and as it shows I decided to start with the latter one as it felt like a bit more easy one to do. Lately I haven't really been too into purple polishes, but couple years back purple was my definite favorite polish color. I can still of course appreciate great purples and I still own quite a few of purple polishes. For this purple mani I decided to go with some of my favorite purple Zoyas.

I used Zoya Neeka as my base color (2 coats) and then I taped my nails with some nail vinyls and painted half of each nail with Zoya Harlow and the other half with Zoya Carter. My first idea for pretty much every theme of this challenge is doing a gradient... Then I always think that well, I can't be doing gradients all the time, so I end up going with my second idea and lately that has always been some sort of tape manicure. Oh well, at least there are quite a few variations that you can do with nail vinyls and such, so each and every single one of my challenge manis don't look the same. But I'm still pretty sure I should figure out something else for next themes.

Nevertheless, I quite liked this manicure. I love the combination of a shiny base color, a matte and a texture, I think they look really good together! This is a very simple look but all the different finished give it something extra. I'm also pretty sure that Zoya does the best purples out there, since I noticed that I own quite a few purple Zoyas and they are all pretty great. It was actually quite hard to choose only three purples for this mani!

By the way, that Harlow there is already quite a few years old, as I got it when Zoya first had these Matte Velvet polishes, but it still works just as new!

Products used for this manicure
Base coat: Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener and Zoya Anchor
Polishes: Zoya Neeka, Harlow and Carter

Of course I also had to try how this manicure would look with a shiny coat of top coat, so here it is:

It actually looks really good shiny too! However, I still think I prefered the original version with the three different finishes. Or what do you guys think?

  1. Oih, nämä on upeat! Ja ehdottomasti ensimmäinen on enemmän mieleeni, nuo kolme erilaista pintaa antavat melkoisesti mielenkiintoisuutta tälle lakkaukselle :)

    1. Kiitos paljon! Jep, kyllä tuo useamman pinnan versio oli paljon kiinnostavampi kuin tuo kokonaan kiiltävä. :)
