Zoya Monet with OPI Suzi's Hungary Again

I'll go with the unintended Zoya theme week to the end, so I have another manicure with one gorgeous Zoya to show you guys today. This time though one OPI polish gets to feature also, so today you don't have to see just a Zoya manicure, though I imagine that wouldn't be a problem either?!

So I used three coats of OPI Suzi's Hungary Again! and then as I wanted to just do the sides of my nails with Zoya Monet, I decided to pick the glitters from the polish with a dotting tool so I wouldn't end up with big piles of glitters. Monet is quite gorgeous iridescent glitter topper which is also really hard to capture! My camera just refused to pick up those blue and purple hues, so this is one of those manis that looks much better in real life than in pictures, though it still looks pretty cute here too.

I got Monet for review but I haven't yet worn it as a full topper, so I can't comment it's formula too much. I've read that some people have had some difficulties with it as the formula has been quite thick, so that was also one of the reasons I decided to pick the glitters with dotting tool rather than dapping the polish on with the brush. But I will definitely try this soon on full nails so I can test the formula better myself too. I definitely love it's iridescent but simultaneously soft and subtle look.

Kauneudenkauppa sponsored our meet with OPI polishes and I got the gorgeous orange/red called My Paprika Is Hotter Than Yours, but couple girls got this beautiful coral called Suzi's Hungary Again. After seeing that one live I just had to have it too since I don't really have anything that would have the same gorgeous pink/coral hue. So I ordered this myself from Kauneudenkauppa and I'm really glad I did! It doesn't have the best formula out there as it needed three coats for full coverage and it's a bit patchy and also a bit thick. But I love the color! The name is (again) a bit stupid, but I guess I can live with it.

Oh and you probably noticed already that I shortened my nails a bit. It was actually quite funny, as the other day I just thought that I should shorten them as they were quite long and then just after thinking that I managed to break my pinky nail. I guess my nails really agreed with my shortening decision.

Kynsillä on ensin kolme kerrosta Hungarya, jonka päälle asettelin Zoyan Monetista glittereitä dotting toolin avulla jokaisen kynnen toiseen reunaan. Kokeilen kyllä Monetin ehdottomasti koko kynnelle piakkoin, jotta voin todeta koostumuksesta itsekin jotain.

Chevron Gradient with Zoya Hudson and Rebel

I seem to have created somekind of unintended Zoya theme week here since all the posts this week have been about Zoya (except the giveaway winners post of course). I didn't really plan this, but let's go with it then. In my last post I shared my swatches of the three beautiful shimmers from Zoya's spring collection and today I have some nail art to share with you guys that I did with two of those gorgeous shimmer polishes: Hudson and Rebel. The main reason that I chose these two was really the fact that I wanted to use the polishes for nail art and I had already done a manicure where I used Dillon, so it was going to be Hudsons and Rebels turn this time.

This manicure has quite many things going on even if it doesn't look like it at first. Like I said, I wanted to use Hudson and Rebel, so first I did an angled gradient with those two to each nail. I also wanted to finally try those chevron nail vinyls and do that type of double gradient with the same polishes. So on top of the first gradient I applied two chevron nail vinyls on each nail and then I did another gradient with the same polishes, just with the colors other way around. After I was done with each nail I just removed the vinyls and finished the mani with a coat of top coat. When I was finished I started thinking that this might actually look better matte, so as a final step, I applied a coat of matte top coat on each nail.

Quite many steps, for quite simple looking mani?! But then again, this was overall really easy and simple to do and I quite like the result! It's one of those manicures that you really need to stare a while to understand what's really going on on the nails. The chevron pattern isn't really too obvious at first since the two gradients mix a bit, but that's kinda the idea here.

Hudson and Rebel look a bit 90s when paired together, but I didn't really mind that either. I thought this was really a fun look and I wore this mani for several days.

I did like the matte version better, but I thought I'd share one picture where I didn't yet have that matte top coat on just so you can see it shiny too:

Tänään esittelyssä Zoyan Hudson ja Rebel -lakoilla aikaan saatu tuplaliukuvärjäys. Zoyan kolmesta shimmerkaunokaisesta Dillon pääsi jo osalliseksi aiempaan kynsikoristeluun, joten tällä kertaa vuoron saivat siis Hudson ja Rebel. Tein lakoilla ensiksi tavallisen liukuvärjäyksen, tosin kulmittain. Halusin myös viimein testata omille kynsille Nail Vinylsien chevroneita, joten asettelin niitä jokaiseen kynteen kaksi kappaletta ja tein liukuvärjäyksen uudestaan samoilla lakoilla, tällä kertaa vain värit toisin päin. Tämän jälkeen irrottelin luonnollisesti vinyylit (vai millä nimellä näitä kuuluisi suomeksi kutsua?!) kynsiltä ja päällystin lakkauksen Essien Good To Go -päällilakalla.

Zoya Spring 2014 Awaken Collection - Dillon, Hudson & Rebel

Today I have the three gorgeous shimmers from Zoya's spring collection Awaken to show you guys! I got to choose some polishes for review from this spring collection and from those spring Magical Pixies from NailCity, and these three shimmers were the ones that I really wanted from this spring collection (I will share some of those Magical Pixies and Monet later with you).

In my opinion Zoya has done some really amazing shimmers in the past, so I was very very excited to try these! These three shades honestly seemed like they were made for me, since if you'd ask me to make some spring shimmers, these would probably be the colors I'd make (+ maybe a some sort of fuchsia one too).

Dillon, Hudson and Rebel look all really gorgeous in the bottles!

Dillon is such a beautiful minty green shimmer. I have quite a few minty polishes that lean clearly to blue, but this one is clearly more green. Dillon was the sheerest one of these three and it needed three coats for full coverage. It was also quite patchy with the first coat, but second coat really made a difference and third one made it fully opaque.

If you know me at all you can probably guess that this one is really my kind of color, so it isn't a surprise that I loved this! I already used this for my gradient nails with Zoya Zuza, here. Zuza actually seems like it is the big sister or at least a close cousin of Dillon and if you like Zuza I'm pretty sure you will like Dillon too.

Hudson is a gorgeous orhic purple shimmer. I have here two coats with base and top coat since I chose to wear this one first as a full manicure. Purples and me were pretty much the best friends until about a year ago (when I started to enjoy mint, blues, greens and so on more), but I still love a nice purple if I see one. Hudson is definitely one!

Hudson looks as it might be at least somewhat close to Zoya Dannii, though Dannii does have different colored shimmer in it and it's probably more warm toned and a bit darker too. I do have Dannii in my stash so I think I need to do somekind of comparison with these two to see how close they really are.

Hudson had the best coverage out of these three and two coats were enough to get nice coverage. This also applied a bit better even with the first coat, so it wasn't as patchy as Dillon.

Rebel is a stunning light blue shimmer. I have three coats here, no base or top coat. If you are really careful with your application, you can maybe do with just two coats, I did the third one just to be safe. So applicationwise this was probably the middle one between Dillon and Hudson.

I sometimes have a problem with light blues like this one if they are too cool toned as I end up feeling like they don't suit me too well. I do love the shimmer in this one too and even if it's quite cool toned, it's not too much for my liking. For me the shimmer in Rebel looks maybe the most gorgeous out of these three. I think it's the fact that on nail this seems to look like it has the most depth and the shimmer makes the polish really glow.

This went pretty much how I thought it might go, I really loved all three of these! I can't say which one is my favourite, they are all so pretty! Maybe, just maybe, it might be Dillon since to me it's the most unique one out of these three and I just loooove minty polishes. Then again Hudson is really gorgeous color and the shimmer in Rebel is soooo pretty. Yeah, maybe I just have to settle to the fact that I just can't choose one favourite out of these three. Can you choose a favourite?

*****

Dillon on aivan upea vihertävä minttuinen shimmer!

Hudson on varsinainen lila kaunokainen myöskin upealla shimmerillä!

Ode To Zoya

Zoya, Zoya I love you so much.
You have made me forget about China Glaze and such.
You have really become my favourite
and I am sometimes desperate
to add every single one of your lacquers to my stash
but unfortunately I don't have enough cash.

I'm so glad that all your names are so simple and beautiful.
You don't use those silly dots that are just awful,
nor doesn't all your polishes have Suzi in their names
and you don't play those stupid name games.

pink shimmers: Reva, Kimber, Aria, Gilda, Tiffany; cremes: Blu, Natty, Reagan, Sooki, Wednesday
I love your shimmers, yes I do
from green to purple, from red to blue
especially those pink ones are quite a crew.
Aria is my first one, Kimber is new
Reva, Gilda, Tiffany are all such a pretty view.

I have only few of your cremes, but I really want to have more
Sooki is my favourite red, Natty doesn't make me snoore
Reagan coveres so well
Blu is such a belle
and what can I say about that gorgeous Wednesday?
Well, at least it's definitely not grey.

Daul and Faye are certainly ones to own
just leave those other dupes alone.
There isn't anything more beautiful than those scattered holographics,
Blaze, Aurora and Payton are quite a mix.

Julie is one beautiful lady
Zuza is certainly worth your money.
Maria Luisa makes me so happy
Nidhi is like the most gorgeous poppy.
Charla is just plain awesome
and Channing is perfect for autumn.

Let's not forget all those gorgeous PixieDusts either
they made my love for texture polishes grow larger.
I wish I had every single one of these
but that would probably make people say 'jeez'.

If I had to choose, Dream would be the one
it looks just perfect under the sun!
It's the most gorgeous blue that I have ever seen
you have to really see it to know what I mean.

If it isn't clear just yet
I'm trying to tell you that after Zoyas and I met,
there really hasn't been one that I would have liked more
and that I can even swore.

These were just some that are precious
I could have added more since they are all so delicious.

Now tell me guys, which brand or polish would you write an ode to? :))

Rimmel Sweetie Crush and comparisons to IsaDora Sugar Nails

Like IsaDora Rimmel has also made us some sweet pastel textures for this spring and I got all five of them for review. As you all probably already know, you can win three of these Rimmel Sweetie Crush polishes (as well as those IsaDora Sugar Nails) in my Blogiversary giveaway. I wanted to give you guys those three; the yellow one, the green one and the purple one, since I already had those IsaDora Sugar Nails polishes which look pretty much the same to me compared to those three Rimmels. There's however two colors in the Rimmel Sweetie Crush set that don't have exact match in those IsaDora ones, so I decided to keep those two to my self and show you the swatches of them. I also have some bottle comparisons with those similar Rimmel and IsaDora ones at the end of this post, so be sure to check those two, but first, let's see those swatches.

This gorgeous light blue one is called Blueberry Whizz and I have three thin coats here. This color is quite vivid and bright, quite perfect for summer I'd say! The polish is packed with silver shimmer which makes it quite sparkly, but also it makes the color even more cold toned, which doesn't really suit me that well. But like I said, it's really gorgeous color still!

The second one is this sweet pink one called Candyfloss Cutie and I have again three thin coats here. This is the second one of these Sweetie Crush polishes that doesn't have ecaxt match in those IsaDora Sugar Nails. There's a very very light pink one in those called Bon Bon, but this Cadyfloss Cutie is way more bright and pink. It is also one of those shades of pinks that in my opinion doesn't look too good on me which is really a bit sad as the color is quite nice. It's so hard to find a perfect pink, don't you think?!

Both of these polishes applied really nicely and I didn't have any problems with them qualitywise. The Rimmel brush is quite wide, which made the applying really easy. They do take a bit longer to dry like pretty much all the textured polishes, but that wasn't anything major either. Unfortunately neither of these colors are really my cup of tea, but if you guys like these type of colors, then you should definitely check these out! They have really nice quality and they are quite affordable choice for nice texture polish additions to your stashes! If I'd have to pick, I'd say my favourite is the blue one.

As promised, I have some bottle comparisons of the three other Sweetie Crush polishes and the matching IsaDora Sugar Nails. Since I'm giving those Rimmels to you guys in my giveaway, I didn't want to open them, but I think you can get a pretty good idea how similar they are even from these bottle pictures.

Rimmel Fizzy Applelicious and IsaDora Macaron seem to be pretty much the same stuff. Maybe, just maybe, the IsaDora one might have a bit more silver shimmer in it, but it might also just look that way because the bottles are differently shaped or something.

Rimmel Sherbet Sweetheart and IsaDora Lemon Soda are also really similar. They both have the same yellow color and also those bigger glitter pieces in them, so they look exactly alike.

Rimmel Violet Swizzle and IsaDora Cotton Candy look both pretty much the same to me also. Cotton Candy might have just slightly different color than Violet Swizzle, but that could also again be because of the shape of the bottles.

These three colors look really similar, don't they? If I had to choose between IsaDora and Rimmel with these three colors, I'd probably go with IsaDora as I like the brand more and I loooove their big and wide brush. However, these Rimmels have really nice and pretty wide brush too and also they are more affordable, so I'd say they really are as good choice as those IsaDoras. In any case I'd say you definitely won't be needing both Rimmel ones and IsaDora ones.

If you guys like these spring texture polishes, don't forget to participate in my giveaway! You can win those three Rimmels, all the IsaDora Sugar Nails and there's many other really nice prizes too!

Disclosure: I have gotten all the polishes in this post for review. For more information view my disclosure policy.

Sain testiin Rimmelin keväisiä Sweetie Crush tekstuurilakkoja. Kolme näistä laitoin teille arvontaan, sillä minulla oli jo IsaDoralta vastaavat Sugar Nails sävyt. Sinisen Blueberry Whizzin ja pinkin Candyfloss Cutien halusin kuitenkin esitellä teille, sillä IsaDoran lakoista ei näitä vastaavia sävyjä löytynyt. Molempia lakkoja levitin kolme ohutta kerrosta.

*Kaikki lakat on saatu arvioitaviksi.

Mint & Pink Water Marbling

As promised in my quick tutorial yesterday, I'll now show you the full manicure with that water marbling you already saw a bit. These water marbling skittlettes have been going around in Finnish nail blogs and I also wanted to my version since I haven't water marbled in a while. At least Sissi from Better Nail Day, Papu from Jos Edes Kynnet and Kaisa from Kynsisirkus have been each sporting a similar type of manicure, just with different colors and I just loved each and every single one of those manis!

I actually did this mani for my visit to Tampere and beauty bloggers' meet, so you might have seen a glimpse of this already in my posts about that event too.

I was in a bit hurry when I made these, so they didn't actually turn out like I planned, but I still liked this manicure nevertheless. Ideally I would prefer the water marbling patterns to be more or less similar to each other, but somehow I managed to make the middle finger on my left hand totally differently that the others. However, I did like the color combination on taht nail too, so I just left it like that (and because I didn't really have time to do it again).

The funny thing about this water marbling here is that it was supposed to be mint, turquoise and pink. That's why the title of this post isn't mint, purple & pink water marbling as I didn't actually use anything purple for this manicure. I used three Essie polishes: pink one is Bottle Service, mint one is of course Mint Candy Apple but the third one is actually blue-green one called Naughty Nautical eventhough I know it doesn't look like it! Everytime the polishes mixed somehow together and Naughty Nautical parts turned into purple. But then again, I didn't really mind that as the color combination look really nice anyhow! Also, that's the fun thing about water marbling, you never quite know what you are going to get.

I also used Essie Blanc as my white base for the marbling and I painted my thumb, index and ring finger nails with Mint Candy Apple. As I'm apparently incapable of doing water marbling manicure without topping it with China Glaze Fairy Dust, so that's exactly what I did.

I also wanted to add bright pink studs to those nails that I painted with Mint Candy Apple, but I didn't have any that would match the bright color of Bottle Service. I solved that problem just painting some lighter pink studs with a coat of Bottle Service before adding them on my nails.

Here are all the polishes that I used for this manicure (though of course I forgot to include my white base color Essie Blanc):
So yeah, no purple polish there...

It was so much fun to do a water marbling mani for a change. I definitely should do these more often! How about you guys, when wast the last time you did some water marbling?

*****

Easter Eggs Skittle

Are you guys (like me) soooo over all the crackle polishes that you don't even know why you got any of them in the first place? Don't know what to do with those crackle polishes any more? How about some very fun, easy and cute Easter nail art?

I painted each of my nails with different colors and then just added some China Glaze crackle called Crushed Candy on top. I used chevron nail vinyls to make the line look edgy, of course you can do it just with your free hand too. I was going for something like a broken eggshells look, and I think this turned out to be quite cute Easter manicure. It's not too obvious one, but still you can probably tell what it's all about.

We all got these same crackle polishes from our meet and honestly I was a bit afraid that I couldn't figure out any interesting way to use this since all my other crackles have just been sitting in my helmer and I haven't been using them at all. But the color of this crackle is pretty nice and at least in this manicure the crackle effect looks quite fun.

Index: Essie Go Ginza (two coats)
Middle: Zoya Neely (two coats)
Ring: L'Oreal Lemon Meringue (three coats)
Pinky: Essie Bond With Whomever (two coats)
(thumb is Zoya Blue)

I also wanted to say couple things about that beautiful light yellow L'Oreal Lemon Meringue that I also got from our meet. I have tried couple different light pastel yellows before but they all have been really difficult to apply, but this L'Oreal one was quite a pleasant surprise! I did have to use three coats, but they went on really easy and the wide brush made the applying so effortless. So now I finally have a nice light pastel yellow in my stash, yay!

Disclosure: I have gotten China Glaze Crushed Candy and L'Oreal Lemon Meringue from the goodie bag from our meet. Also I have gotten the other polishes that I used in this manicure originally for review. For more information view my disclosure policy.

Tänään vuorossa pikainen pääsiäismunamanikyyri. Miitistä saatu China Glazen crackle Crushed Candy pääsikin yllättäen melkolailla heti kynsille, kun keksin, että sillähän saisi aikaa hauskat pääsiäiskynnet. Pohjaväreinä tässä skittlessä toimivat Essien Go Ginza, Zoyan Neely, L'Orealin Lemon Meringue ja Essien Bond With Whomever (peukalossa Zoyan Blu).
