Zoya Dream and Payton Gradient

While ago I saw this gorgeous gradient by Polished Elegance done with two of my favourite Zoya polishes, Dream and Payton. Since then I have had the urge to do the exact same thing and now I finally had to give in and just do it.

And oh man what a perfect combination it is! I can't even begin to tell you guys how much I love this gradient! As I've said before, Zoya Dream is on of my all time favourite polishes, if not even my all time favourite one, and combined with Payton it looks just as good.

I used one coat of Payton as my base color and then sponged on some Payton and Dream and of course finished off with a coat of top coat.

As I didn't want to do just a copycat manicure, I wanted to add a little bit something more but I also didn't want to cover that gorgeous gradient, so I decided to add water decals just to my ring fingers and make them accent nails.
I also added just a tiny bit of loose glitter on top of the decals to get just a little more sparkle.

And I finally had the chance to take some pictures in direct sunlight, so you can see the holo effect in this last picture at least somewhat better:
I have posted my swatches of both of these polishes some time ago, so if you haven't seen them already, you can check them here.

How about you guys, did you like this gradient combination? And do you share my love for Zoya Dream?

Essie Lots Of Lux

I have just a quick post for you guys today with a very gorgeous blue textured polish from Essie.

I'm of course talking about Essie Lots Of Lux that Essie descripes as shimmering blue lapis lazuli lacquer with a sleek matte finish. I'd say that description is quite appropriate, at least for that shimmering blue lapis lazuli part as the color is really as gorgeous as the gemstone itself. Of course this doesn't look half as good in any of the pictures I've seen (including my own) as you can't really see that gorgeous shimmer in them.

I used two easy coats here with base coat, no top coat. This was really easy to work with and unlike some other vivid textured blue polishes, this doesn't stain, which is always great news. I'd say this is really one of the most gorgeous textured polishes I've seen and really a must-have if you like blue polishes at all!

Disclosure: I purchased this nail polish myself. For more information view my disclosure policy.

Tänään pikaisessa esittelyssä Essien lumoavan kaunis sininen tekstuurilakka Lots Of Lux.

Kuvissa lakkaa on kaksi kerrosta aluslakan lisäksi, päällilakkaa en luonnollisestikaan käyttänyt. Lots Of Lux on kyllä varmasti yksi kauneimmista tekstuureista, joita minä olen nähnyt.

Incoco Nail Polish Applique On the Edge

I have been saving the two sets of Incoco nail polish appliques that I got from Incoco for a somekind of special occasion as I felt they would go to waste if I'd use them for a regular manicure. Finally I just decided I had to do a mani with the yellow and black houndstooth appliques called On the Edge as they were pretty much shouting my name from the package. These are not really typical me as they are pretty edgy and strong and yellow, but those are also the main reasons I chose this pattern.

I really wanted to try to do some sections with these rather than just cover all the nails with the appliques, so I only did two nails from each hand with a full applique and for the others I painted my nails first with two coats L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat and one coat of Essie Good To Go, then I cut some pieces from the appliques and placed those on my other nails. I decided to use the patters so that the full ones go to the other way and the pattern in the pieces go to the other to get some variation. Finally I also added some black studs.

These nail polish strips don't need a top coat over them, so I didn't use any. I was probably a bit rusty on applying these as I managed to get couple wrinkles, but overall the application was once again quite effortless and it was also really easy to cut those smaller pieces from the strips and use those. You can read my full review about Incoco appliques here in this post.

After using these I really remembered why I prefered these real nail polish strips over stickers and full nail water decals, these are just so much easier to use and apply. So I would really choose these over stickers. The pattern is really bright and fun and these were such an easy way to do quite a loud manicure. Even if this isn't truly my kind of look, I really loved these as it is so much fun to do something different once in a while.

You can find this On the Edge pattern here and lots and lots more other designs at Incoco website

*I have gotten these nail strips for review, other products used in this post I have bought myself. All the links are here just to help you guys, I don't gain anything if you use them. For more information see my disclosure policy.

Paloilla koristellut kynnet lakkasin ensin kahdella kerroksella L'Orealin BB Perfect Pastel Coatia ja kerroksella Essien Good To Gota, On the Edge:n päälle en kuitenkaan levittänyt päällilakkaa, sillä näissä se on jo valmiina. Laitoin kuvion kulkemaan eri suuntiin paloissa ja koko kynnen kuvissa, jotta sain manikyyriin hieman lisää vaihtelua. Lopuksi lisäsin vielä muutamat mustat niitit lakkaukseen. Muutaman pienen rutun sain valitettavasti aikaan, ehkä harjoituksen puutteesta, mutta muuten näiden laittaminen sujui kyllä yhtä vaivattomasti kuin aiemminkin. Kattavamman arvion näistä Incocoista voit lukaista aiemmasta postauksestani, täältä.

Incocon nettisivuilta löytyy melkoinen määrä erilaisia kuoseja, yksivärisiä lakkauksia, ranskalaisia manikyyrejä ja jopa varpaiden kynsille omat kuosit, ja toimitus onnistuu siis myös tänne Suomeen.
*Tarrat on saatu arvioitavaksi, muut postauksessa käytetyt tuotteet olen ostanut itse. Postauksen linkkien käytöstä en hyödy mitenkään.

White & Blue Gradient - Biathlon Nails

If you follow me on Instagram, you already saw this picture and know what I was doing last week:

The Biathlon world cup competitions were held near here at Kontiolahti last week and of course I had to go and see them and cheer for Kaisa and Mari. We had the tickets for all three days and I really couldn't go there without a proper cheer manicure, right?! Even if everyone else couldn't really see my mani too much as I had my mittens on pretty much all the time.

Because I'm a finn rooting for those two amazing Finnish competitors, I had to go with white and blue like our flag. I didn't had too much time to do the mani, so I went with an easy blue and white gradient. As the Finnish flag has more white than blue in it, I wanted to do the gradient in a way where the blue is mainly on the tips and majority of the nails are covered in white. I used I Love Nail Polish Down Comforter and Too Fancy Lacquer Set Fire To The Rain for the gradient.

Down Comforter isn't really a clean white, it looks a bit more like a really light grey, but I still wanted to use it for this mani as I was using Set Fire To The Rain which is holographic one too. Eventhough I used two holographic ones for the gradient, I thought there weren't enough sparkle in the manicure, so I finally topped it with China Glaze Fairy Dust.

I think my nails were a success as Kaisa was truly amazing and won all three races and also wonderfully enough Mari finished the first sprint in third place! It was truly amazing! Well, maybe it wasn't due to my nails after all, but I really have to say that I had a blast cheering. Hopefully everything will go well for Kaisa in those two last races and she will win the overall world cup. I surely will be cheering for her in front of the tv today and tomorrow.

Here are all the polishes I used for this mani:

Do you guys follow any winter sports?  Or even biathlon?

Instagramin puolella vilauttelinkin jo tuoreeltaan paria kuvaa ampumahiihdon maailmancupin kisoista täältä Joensuun naapurista Kontiolahdelta viime viikolla.

Kannustusmani piti tottakai tehdä Suomen väreissä ja kun kynsien lakkaamiseen ei kaikilta kiireiltä jäänyt hirveästi aikaa, päätin tehdä pikaisen liukuvärjäyksen I Love Nail Polishin Down Comforterilla ja Too Fancy Lacquerin Set Fire To The Rainilla.

Tuleeko seurattua ampumahiihtoa?

El Corazón Haul from Hypnotic Polish

I'm always excited to find new online nail polish shops and especially if they sell something that hasn't been so easy to buy. I bought couple El Corazón polishes from my trip to St. Petersburg and loved those, but they have been pretty hard to get otherwise. Just recently I learned that there's this great newish nail polish store called Hypnotic Polish that has a really amazing range of different polishes, even those El Corazóns that I have been lemming. Great, huh? What's even more great is that Hypnotic Polish is located in the Netherlands, that's really great news for us European lacquer lovers! Of course I had to make an order and get me some of those polishes and I thought I'd share this little haul with you too, since I'm not sure if you all have even heard about this store.

It took less than a week for my order to arrive and it came in a sturdy cardboard box. Inside there was this cute wrapping paper and a nice little thank you sticker, all the polishes were separately bubble wrapped. So basically it was really nicely packed. The shipping to Finland was 10€ (without tracking), you can find the other rates for different countries from their Facebook page, but they do ship worldwide. Currently they only have the store in Facebook, but they do have proper website under construction too. They do already have quite many brands, in addition to El Corazón they have some of my favourite brands like A England, Glitter Gal, Dance Legend, Pretty Serious, Cadillacquer and many other indie brands.

This time I was really only after those El Corazón polishes, so I bought five of them. I bought two from the Confetti collection and three from the Magic collection, though I could seriously buy all the polishes from the Magic collection as they are so gorgeous shimmery pretties! Unfortunately some of them were sold out, but I bought the three that were available and interested me the most. I have some close-up bottle shots to show you guys as the polishes are so pretty!

 Magic Charmer

 Magic Purple Charm

 Magic Tenderness

 Confetti collection - 531a

Confetti collection - 530a

So if you aren't yet familiar with Hypnotic Polish, be sure to check it out! Like I said, I bought these myself and I'm not gaining anything from this post, I just wanted to give a little shout-out to Hypnotic Polish as I hadn't heard about it before and I was so excited to finally find El Corazóns!

Were you already familiar with Hypnotic Polish?

*****

Lakkoja kaupasta löytyy useilta eri brändeiltä: A England, Dance Legend, Pretty Serious, Cadillacquer, Shimmer Polish ja monen monta muuta indiemerkkiä. Tällä kertaa olin itse lähinnä niiden El Corazónien perässä, joten päädyin tilaamaan vain niitä.

Jotkut lakat olivat harmittavasti loppu, mutta tilasin kuitenkin kolme lakkaa Magic kokoelmasta ja kaksi Confetti kokoelmasta.

Ja tosiaan maksoin tilaukseni aivan itse, enkä hyödy tästä postauksesta mitenkään, halusin vain vinkata teille tästäkin mukavasta nettikaupasta, johon itse en ollut ainakaan aiemmin törmännyt.

Oliko Hypnotic Polish teille jo entuudestaan tuttu?

31DC13 Day 25: Inspired by fashion

I'm going to finish this damn challenge whatever it takes! So it's time to continue and it's day 25 and time for a fashion inspired manicure. I thought it would be a fun idea to do a manicure inspired by a dress from this years Oscars. Lupita Nyongo's Oscars look and dress were hands down my favourite, but that look was a bit hard for inspiration, since I didn't just want to paint my nails with the same color as her dress. So I chose to be inspired by Anne Hathaway's dress for the gala, though it isn't really my style, but it was really a great inspiration for a manicure.

So I simply painted my nails with black (Essie Licorice) and then placed some, well quite a lot, of nail studs on my nails. I would have probably used triangle shaped rhinestones for this look to make it look more like the inspiration dress, but I didn't have any of those, so I decided to do look with the silver studs I had. Also I think I should have paid more attention to the placing of those studs, some are a bit wonky, but overall I think this was still quite a fun look. These nails were probably just a bit too rock & roll for me, as this isn't something I'd normally wear, but it was a fun experiment and it's sometimes nice to step out of your comfort zone.

Nail Polish Battle: Essie Sunday Funday vs. Cute As A Button and Essie After School Boy Blazer vs. OPI I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw

I have a Nail Polish Battle post for you guys today and I actually, once again, have two battle pairs to share with you guys. In the first battle you're going to see two quite pretty Essie coral reds fight each other and the second battle is between two dark blue ones also from Essie and OPI. But without further ado, let's start those battles!

First battle pair is Essie Sunday Funday vs. Essie Cute As A Button!

As you can see here, these two are quite similar, but there are still some differences. Cute As A Button is a creme whereas Sunday Funday has some shimmer in it. The shimmer is more visible in the bottle than on nail, but you can still see a bit of it on nail too. Cute As A Button is also a tad cooler toned compared to Sunday Funday. The color difference isn't really big, but it's still noticable.

Both of these have quite similar formula and they cover pretty well with two coats, though you might need a third coat for longer nails or if you have a highly visible nail line. I don't really think that you'll need both of these as they are so similar, so it pretty much comes down to the question if you like that subtle shimmer or not and also maybe, if you like the slightly cooler or warmer toned color.

Final verdict: I prefer the slightly warmer toned color of Sunday Funday and the shimmer also really wins it for me, so Sunday Funday stays and Cute As A Button has to go.

Second battle pair is Essie After School Boy Blazer vs. OPI I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw!

The difference between these two is already visible judging only from the bottles, but I still wanted to pair these two as I feel like I'm not going to need two dark blue lacquers and I wanted to see which one I would keep. OPI's name monster Warsaw is clearly lighter whereas Essie's School Boy looks almost like black. Both of these dry a bit darker than they look in the bottle, which is a bit shame if you ask me. I'd say the color of After School Boy Blazer would be just perfect for me, if it looked as it looks in the bottle. Now Warsaw is just a bit too light and School Boy too dark.

The Essie one is really pigmented, so it's pretty much a one coater, OPI one need two coats for full coverage. I also prefer the wide Essie brush over the OPI brush. I do have OPI's Dating a Royal also, which is more lighter dark blue than these two. So eventhough I have always said that I don't like polishes that look black, I think I could have more use for the Essie one (it works well for water marbling for example!). Also, I just hate the name of that Warsaw polish so much, it's just so stupid!

Final verdict: I'm keeping After School Boy Blazer and the polish with the awful name gets to go.

Which ones did you guys prefer?

*****

Kynsilakkataistot jatkuvat ja tänään vuorossa kaksi korallista kaunokaista ja kaksi tummansinistä.

Essien Cute As A Button ja Sunday Funday ovat hyvin lähellä toisiaan, sävyeroa on vain hieman Cute As A Buttonin ollessa aavistuksen kylmempi Sunday Fundayhin verrattuna.

Minty Spring French

I got these really bright and fun colored studs for review from Born Pretty Store and I wanted do somekind of light and springlike manicure with them as the colors were so spring appropriate. I also haven't done a french manicure for a while and it was clearly time to do one, so I have a minty spring french to share with you guys today.

I started this mani with two coats of L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat, then I did the french tips with two coats of Zoya Neely. After that I dabbed some gold glitter over the polish line and I used I Love Nail Polish All Gold Everything for this. Finally I added two studs for each nail and sealed them with a coat of top coat (Essie Good To Go).

This was a fairly simple look, but I really liked it. Unfortunately my nails look a bit yellow in these pictures, but they didn't look as yellow in real life. Still, I probably need to buff them a bit more next time. Strangely enough, I do have quite few minty polishes, but I didn't have anything that would have been excactly the same color as those studs. All my minty polishes were too blue tones and even Zoya Neely looks blue toned compared to the studs. But it's close enough and it really didn't even need to be exact match.

Here are all the products I used for this manicure:

I also wanted to say just couple thing about this stud wheel. Like I said, I got this for review from BPS and they have four different color variations from this same wheel (mine is 3#). I chose this one mainly because of those minty ones that I already used in this manicure, but I think the other two colors in this wheel are pretty great too.

There are three different shapes of those studs in the wheel and also two different sizes of that square one, so total of four different kind of ones from each color. The studs are pretty flat, so even I can handle them (I don't like decorations that stick out too much). I really like these kind of colored studs and they are a fun way to decorate your nails. You can use a top coat with these just fine, it doesn't damage the color whatsoever. These are right now on sale at BPS, only $2.59 per wheel. I think I'm going to get myself another one with different colors, I just have to figure out which one!

Don't forget that you can get 10% off with my code MBL91 and BPS offers free worldwide shipping! I don't gain anything if you use my code, but BPS has promised that they will sponsor a giveaway here in my blog if ten people use the code.

Neelyn ja L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coatin lisäksi käytin kynsiin myös I Love Nail Polishin kultaista glittertopperia All Gold Evertyhingiä, tietysti niitä BPS:n niittejä ja Essien Good To Go -päällilakkaa.
*Niitit on saatu arvioitaviksi.

China Glaze Sea Goddess collection: Seahorsin' Around and Wish On A Starfish

Today I have two gorgeous polishes from China Glaze Sea Goddess collection to share with you guys. I only bought two polishes from this collection, the turquoise one called Seahorsin' Around and the soft pink one called Wish On A Starfish as those two were the ones that interested me the most. Also these two looked really pretty in all the swatches I saw, so I just had to have them.

First off it's the turquoise beauty called Seahorsin' Around. I used two coats here with a base coat. This one is definately my favourite and I'd say it's one of the prettiest texture polishes I have! The color is really gorgeous turquoise with quite a strong metallic shimmer and the formula was quite nice too. It was a bit on the thick side, but nothing that can't be handeled and it covered nicely with just two coats. I also love the name of this one!

If you like turquoise and texture polishes even just a little bit, I'd say this is a must have! It's really sooo gorgeous and like pretty much all the texture polishes, it looks way better in real life than in any pictures.

Then the soft pink one called Wish On A Starfish. I have three coats here with a base coat. This one is also really gorgeous color and I love that strong gold shimmer, but unfortunately this shade didn't go to well together with my skintone. The formula was quite nice with this one too, though this is a bit sheer, so you'll need to do three coats for full coverage.

I just wish the pink base could have been just slightly cooler toned, then this would have suited me much better. It just so hard to find pink polishes that suit me! However, like I said, I really love that golden shimmer in this one, so if you think this shade will suit you, you should definately get this one.

Did you guys get any polishes from the Sea Goddess collection? Which one is your favourite?

*****

Tänään esittelyssä kaksi kaunokaista China Glazen Sea Goddess kokoelmasta: turkoosi Seahorsin' Around ja vaaleanpunainen Wish On A Starfish.

Mikä niistä on teidän suosikkinne?

Monthly Manicure Roundup: February 2014

February came and went already, so it's time for the monthly manicure roundup. If you missed January's roundup you can check it here.

I only did three nail art manicures last month, which is really less than ideal. I have been mainly wearing single color manicures and I haven't even had time to take pictures of those... Also I did quite a few swatches and comparisons in February, but more on those later. The nail art manicures that I managed to do were:

I also did a tutorial of that Valentine's Day drag marble.

Now, like I said, I did quite a few of swatch posts last month:

Then I showed you swatches of total of 10 different China Glaze polishes.

After that I shared my picks from KBShimmer winter 2013 collection.

Then I also wanted to finally share my Essie Naughty Nautical summer collection swatches.

In addition to all these swatches, I also did a few comparisons and a Nail Battle post with two sets of lacquers:

Which February post was your favourite?
