New from IsaDora and Sally Hansen plus a little haul from BeautyJoint

***Don't forget to participate in my Essie giveaway, it ends tomorrow!***

It's still quite cold and wintry here, but yet there seems to be growing number of spring colors making their way to the stores already. I just got some new spring polishes from IsaDora and Sally Hansen for review and since I haven't seen yet seen too much of either of these around, I thought I'd share some bottle pictures with you guys. Also, I included a little haul that I made from BeautyJoint at the end of this post. But first, let's start with those IsaDora polishes.

So these five polishes from IsaDora's spring collection called Ray Of Light are (from left to right): Dragonfly (777), Halo (778), Glorious (779), Opaline (780) and Ray Of Light (781).

The colors are really delicate and springlike pastels. IsaDora describes these as glowing iridescent, light pastel shades that contain exclusive luminous pigments. These do have a gorgeous shine and glimmer in them, but the do look a bit pearly in the bottles, so we'll see how they will look on nail. I will do swatches of all of these as soon as possible.

Dragonfly and Halo look bretty similar in the bottle. I'd say Dragonfly has more like a very light green base whereas Halo is white base with some pink hues.

Glorious is described as mix of champagne and peach, again quite soft shade as all of these. Opaline is soft light pink and Ray Of Light is leaning towards very light purple.

I'm really interested to see how these all will look on nail and how those luminous pigments will come to life.

I also received six Sally Hansen Satin Glam polishes to try. There are total of eight polishes in this line, so I have all but Metal Iced and Sun Sheen.
These dry on nail to a satin finish, which basically means that they have that matte finish with a lot of shimmer. These are from left to right: Go Gold (01), Crystalline (02), Chic Pink (05), Teal Tulle (06), Taffeta (07) and Silk Onyx (08). I'm really eager to see how these will look on nail as you can't really tell that based on the bottles only. I'll swatch these too as soon as possible.

Judging from the bottles I'd say Go Gold, Crystalline and Silk Onyx might be the ones that I would like the most, but we'll see how these look on nail!

Like I said, I also made a little haul from BeautyJoint.com. This was my first time bying anything from there and based on this one order, I'd say that I was quite impressed by the place. My package arrived really quickly, I don't think I've ever gotten a parcel quicker from the US. Also the shipping costs were very reasonable, you can pay using Paypal and they sell some brands that may be harder to buy here (like Milani or L.A. Girl).

I bought the two polishes I really wanted from China Glaze Sea Goddess collection: Wish On A Starfish and Seahorsin' Around.

These both look so gorgeous in the bottle, I can't wait to try them out!

I also wanted for a while to get some of those L.A. Girl Splatter polishes, so I included three of those to my order.
These are called Splash, Splat and Spatter. Those names are really confusing, it's impossible to remember which one is which! But other than that these look really awesome! I just have to figure out some neat colors to use these with.

*****

Sain IsaDoran ja Sally Hansenin maahantuojalta eilen postissa molempien sarjojen kevätuutuuksia ja ajattelin näyttää teille hieman pullokuvia ennen kuin saan kunnolliset swatchit tehtyä näistä kaikista lakoista.

IsaDoran Ray Of Light kevätkokoelmaan kuulu viisi valoa hehkuvaa pastellisävyä: Dragonfly (777), Halo (778), Glorious (779), Opaline (780) and Ray Of Light (781).

Sally Hansenin Satin Glam kokoelmaan kuulu yhteensä kahdeksan lakkaa, joista sain testiin kuusi sävyä: Go Gold (01), Crystalline (02), Chic Pink (05), Teal Tulle (06), Taffeta (07) and Silk Onyx (08).

Milani ja L.A. Girl). Omaan tilaukseeni otin kaksi lakkaa China Glazen Sea Goddess kokoelmasta ja kolme L.A. Girlin Splatter glitteriä.

***Muistakaahan myös osallistua Essie arvontaan! Arvonta päättyy huomenna.***

IsaDora Peel Off Base

I got IsaDora Peel Off Base for review a while ago and I've been trying it out thoroughly with several manicures and different polishes. I've used Essence's Peel Off Base Coat before this IsaDora one, but somehow I just couldn't make that one work for me, so I was little bit doubtful on how this might work. I've also tried to make my own peel off base coat by mixing glue and water, but that didn't turn out too great either (and now I can't even open the bottle anymore as it's glued...). So I really wanted to see how this IsaDora one would work as it would be really helpful especially with glitter polishes.

It comes in the same kind of bottle as all IsaDora polishes do and so there's 6ml (0.2 Fl.oz) in the bottle. Quite little if you ask me! But I do love that IsaDora Wide Brush, it makes the applying really easy. This has that water based formula and it smells like glue, not too bad, but you can still smell it. It's also quite thick, thicker than some regular base coats.

Here I have just applied the base, one coat for each nail except my index finger where I have two coats. It says in the instructions in the bottle that you should use one coat, but I also saw some other instructions where it said that you should use two coats. So here I was trying out which would work better.

You should let the base dry out completely before applying any nail polish, I'd say 5 minutes would do the trick. It's really easy to see when it's dry as it becomes transparent. It took only couple of minutes for this to dry on those nails where I had only one coat of the base. My index nails took much longer with those two coats.

I was really interested in how easy it would be to remove this as that is where I have had problems before with these peel of bases. They all say you can remove the polish really easily in one sheet, but I've always ended up with just tiny bits coming off. This wasn't the case with this IsaDora one, the nail polish really comes off in one or two big pieces! And it comes off really easily too, you just take one edge and start working from there.

Like I said I tried this with several different manicures and here's what was left of those after removing them:
So all of them came off really easily and it didn't matter which type of polish you had. The more coats you had and the thicker the polish layer is, the more easily it comes off too.

Of course this makes you worried about how the your manicure will last, right? Well, I didn't have too many issues with this either. I noticed that if you use two coats of that Peel Off Base, then your manicure might chip easily or even come fully off, but if you use only one coat, that shouldn't happen. For example, I wore that gradient manicure with those flower decals for five days and washed my hands regularly, showered, did some cleaning and so on and it stayed on really nicely.

Basically, I love this! It's really making me want to wear some glitter bomb polishes more often as I know that the removal wont be so hard. The only thing I don't like about this is the fact that it's one of those limited edition type of things, so it's going to be available only short time, at least for now. I'm really hoping IsaDora will make this a part of their permanent selection, but if see this, you should really grab it while you can!

Tänään siis testissä IsaDoran Peel Off Base, jonka sain jo vähän aikaa sitten arvioitavaksi.

Beauty Presentation at Sokos and meeting with beauty bloggers

Last November we had a get-together with local nail enthusiasts which included a really fun beauty presentation at local department store Sokos Joensuu. Last saturday I had the pleasure the attend another beauty presentation at Sokos, this time with local beauty bloggers. We had the same two lovely beauty specialists giving us the presentation and we got to learn quite a bit about current seasonal looks, skin care, make-up and other beauty products.

Among other things we learned about Guerlain's spring collection (some Lancome blushers in front), Essie and Maybelline nail polishes, Escada's Born In Paradise and Dior's spring collection.

The presentation started with some tips and tricks for skin care in the winter time. I was especially intrigued about that Clarins HydraQuench Cream-Mask and those Eye Contour gel and creams.

Of course the nail polishes were the ones that interested me the most! The collection that Essie has currently in the stores here is the gorgeous winter collection (which you can btw still win from my giveaway, click here!). Also we got to see some brand new Maybelline ColorShow Crystallize polishes.

Those three Essies on the bottom left are from the Luxeffects collection.

Here's some close-ups of those Maybelline polishes:

Then we got to see some gorgeous spring make-up shades:
These are all from Guerlain. Especially those two Météorites Bubble Blushes looked really gorgeous!

Then these are all from Lancome. That cute Blush Highlighter seemed like a really interesting product and the casing was so cute with that bow and all.

Dior's spring collection had the cutest pastel colors! This really made me want spring here immediately, this was so cute!
I've never had a single Dior eyeshadow and I don't think I have ever even tested one. These look really cute with those prints and all, but I was a bit surprised as the pigment in these weren't as strong as I would have thought. The colors were gorgeous though and I'm sure they'll work better with primer and all that stuff.

I've also never had any Dior nail polishes, maybe someday? These all looked really pretty and very appropriate for spring.

It was so much fun to learn about all the products, especially as we also got to try them out. MariaGlow from Dazzling Glow took this picture where AnneDeadly and Mizz Annie are in the middle of testing all the products.

After the beauty presentation we all enjoyed a nice dinner at local restaurant and after that we continued the eveining at MariaGlow's place.
We went trough Maria's stash, swapped and sold and bought some products from each other and just hang out. Maria was so kind that she had those little gifts for everybody!

Maria had also prepared us some really nice snacks and dessert!

Sokos gave us all little something when we left from there:
We all got a really cute small Clarins bag and a sample of Escada Born In Paradise.

And in the Clarins' bag there was a Eye Make-Up Remover and a mascara. We also got a Clarins booklet.

This is what I got from that small gift from Maria: Clarins HydraQuench Cream and sample of Christina Aguilera's Eau De Parfum. I've only used some face cleansing products from Clarins before this, so it's really awesome that I got this cream!

Mizz Annie had gotten Livbox to sponsor out event, so everyone got also January's Livboxes to take home. I already had one as I had ordered it myself, but it was great to have another one as there were quite many products that I liked in this box.

It was so much fun to meet some local beauty bloggers too! And I'm so glad I got to join the event eventhough I'm a nail polish blogger and not a beauty blogger. I had fun and I learned quite a lot!

Big thanks to everyone who participated:

31DC13 Day 23: Inspired by a movie

Today I'm finally going to continue the challenge! You know guys, I really struggled with today's task. I tried so hard to figure out what I wanted to do and I always came up empty. I do love good movies and I also watch movies quite often, but I just couldn't figure out even what movie I wanted to do. That's also the main reason it has taken me so long to continue this challenge... Finally I decided to just do this the easy and obvious way and then I managed to do at least something. The mani isn't no where near perfect and I pretty much got ruined, but I decided to post this anyhow as I really don't want to do this movie manicure again.

Yeah, like I said, the mani isn't too good, but it's something! Obviously I used Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast At Tiffany's as my inspiration. I started the mani with two coats of L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat, then I placed the water decals on my ring fingers. Then I painted the half moons with China Glaze For Audrey using some hole reinforcers to create the half moons and framed the decals on my ring finger nails with the same polish. Finally with the help of some top coat I applied small pieces from that plastic beads to each nails.

I thought this was nice and simple idea, but the beads didn't really want to work with me. It was so incredibly hard to somehow get them to that somewhat round shape on my ring fingers and I also seem to have too narrow nails for this. Also it would have probably been better idea to use some nail glue instead of top coat to secure those beads into place as with top coat they really went pretty much where they wanted to and they certainly didn't stay there where you put them. Those water decals are also some poor ebay quality and they were really thick but somehow still managed to get wrinkled...

At least the color of China Glaze For Audrey is as gorgeous as always and the color of the beads went really well together with the polish!
http://www.bornprettystore.com/
I have gotten the beads from Born Pretty Store for review and mine are color #2. These 100 cm of these in the one package, so there's really plenty to use for several manicures. I just have to ficure out some easier way to use these!

Don't forget that you can get 10% off with my code MBL91 and BPS offers free worldwide shipping! I don't gain anything if you use my code, but BPS has promised that they will sponsor a giveaway here in my blog if ten people use the code.

Here's what I used:
L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat (2 coats)
China Glaze For Audrey
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat
water decals
Reinforcements (for the half moons)
Wire cutters (to cut those beads)

My movie inspired mani wasn't that creative two years ago either:
But I think I still liked it more than that newer one. You can check out the full post about the mani here.

Do you guys have any movie in mind that would be great for nail art inspiration?

Tänään vihdoin jatkuu siis 31. päivän haaste. Haasteen jatkaminen on venynyt lähinnä siksi, että oli ihan uskomattoman vaikeata keksiä mitä tämän päivän kynsiksi tekisi! En millään keksinyt edes mitään elokuvaa, mistä haluaisin inspiroitua tekemään kynsiä, vaikka katselenkin aika paljon elokuvia... Lopulta päätin mennä sieltä missä aita on ainakin suhteellisen matala eli tehdä jotakin melko ilmiselvää.

Geometrics with Zoya Blaze, Aurora and Payton

I did this mani a while ago, but I somehow never posted it here. I really liked this manicure, but it didn't look as good in these pictures as it did in real life. Also, for some reason my skintone looks really weird in these pics... But as it's not really possible anymore to do the pictures all over again, I decided just to show it to you now, so that the manicure itself won't go waste.

I wanted to do somekind of manicure with Zoya Blaze and I thought it would be great idea to compine some other Zoya beauties with it. So I ended up with this geometric manicure where I used Blaze as my base color and Aurora and Payton for the patterns.

I thought these three Zoyas looked really pretty together and like I said, I really enjoyed this manicure. This manicure was quite simple to do, as you don't really need anything else than the polishes and some striping tape.

Here are the polishes I used for this manicure:
 KBShimmer Basic Training
Zoya Blaze (2 coats)
Zoya Aurora
Zoya Payton*
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat

I also took some pictures of the gorgeous Blaze alone:
I have here only two coats with base and top coat. I would have probably done third coat if I was wearing this alone, but since I knew I was going to continue the manicure in someway, two coats was enough. Blaze is really an awesome polish! I love the color and it was fairly easy to apply too.

*I have gotten Zoya Payton originally for review. For more information see my disclosure policy.

*****

Blaze on kyllä uskomattoman upea lakka!

Delicate Water Decals Manicure

Yeah, I know, water decals again?! I promise I'll have something else for you guys next time, but I just had do this manicure after seeing this manicure at Wasting Lifestyle. As I'm still not any good with stamping I had to use some water decals to do my nails with similar idea.

I started these nails with two coats of L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat. Then I just applied the decals and after those I applied one coat of KBShimmer I Only Have Ice For You and a coat of top coat.

The yellowness and all the stains on my nails looks worse in these pictures than it did in real life. I really liked how this mani turned out, it's really delicate and neutral looking without being too plain or boring. I think it's really nice sometimes to do somekind of neutral look between all those not-so-netural-looking manicures.

I have bought these decals myself from Born Pretty Store and they are actually on sale there right now, so if you like them you should definately check them out now!

L'Oreal BB Perfect Pastel Coat (2 coats)
water decals
KBShimmer I Only Have Ice For You (1 coat)
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat

What do you guys think about this kind of neutral look?

*****

Emman kuurankukkakynsien innoittamana piti päästä itsekin toteuttamaan jotakin samantyylistä. Minulta kun ei tuo leimaaminen vieläkään oikein onnistu, päädyin käyttämään valkoisia siirtokuvia leimojen sijaan.

Lakkauksessa on pohjana L'Orealin BB Perfect Pastel Coat (kaksi kerrosta), jonka päälle asettelin suoraan siirtokuvat. Lisäsin siirtokuvien päälle vielä kerroksen KBShimmerin I Only Have Ice For You topperia ja tietysti lopuksi vielä päällilakkaa.

Feathers with Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck and mail from Adenina

Adenina restocked and also got some new water decals recently and I got some of them to try out, so of course I had to do a manicure with them immediately. I've also wanted to use Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck for a manicure after swatching it as the color is so gorgeous, so I decided to do those both in the same mani.

I used two coats of Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck, then I placed one decal on every nail and finally I dapped on really lightly just a hint of Essie Sparkle On Top on top of the decals just to make those feathers sparkle a bit.

I think these feather decals are really perfect as they are so fluffy and delicate looking. They were also really easy to use and apply, so no complaints there! I haven't yet had the courage to try to paint any kind of feathers on my nails myself, so these are really easy way that you can use to achieve that similar look.

I'm still in love with Warm & Toasty Turtleneck too, it is really an awesome polish! To color is really gorgeous and it applies like a dream. You only need two easy coats and that's it! If you don't have this one already, you should really get it!

And here's what I used for this manicure:
KBShimmer Basic Training
Essie Warm & Toasty Turtleneck (2 coats)
Essie Sparkle On Top
Mereneid Top It All Top Coat
water decals

Here's the whole order I got from Adenina:
They provided me with a 10€ discount code, so I ordered some of those new water decals and I also wanted to give some of the foils a try, so I took three of those and a foil glue. The decals are Y007, C072, C069, K036, C066 and K036C. The foil sheets are numbers 4, 1 and 7. Of course the ten euros didn't cover this all, so I ended up paying some of these myself, but I really wanted them all!

Don't forget to participate in my Essie giveaway where you can win this gorgeous Warm & Toasty Turtleneck and all the other five polishes from Essie's winter collection!

*I have gotten the Adenina products and Essie Warm & Toasty Turleneck for review. For more information see my disclosure policy.
