#ablecaw14 Week 8: Old Faithful

Press sample

Oh man, it's week 8 already of the Finnish(able) Nail Art Challenge, so it's already half way through. I can't believe it! I'm happy that there's still many weeks left, but at the same time I'm also already a bit sad that it's not going to be long when this whole challenge is done. Oh well, I'm not gonna think about that right now, since I have my next challenge manicure to share with you guys today.

I thought that Old Faithful was a really great theme to start the week with, so here it comes! Bare in mind though that I'm still not any kind of master in stamping, this is pretty much the best I can do... :D

I have so many polishes that I could have chosen for this challenge, since I do own quite a few favorites that I have had a long time. Then I thought I should really choose one of my very first ones, the ones that are really the first ones that I got from each brand. Zoya Nidhi or China Glaze Pure Elegance or Misa Genie In This Bottle would have all been great choices for this challenge, but I ended up going with Essie Demure Vixen since I really needed to fix the situation that I have worn it only once! I got this polish four years ago and I love the subtle look of it. I really don't even have any good reason why I haven't worn it more, it's just that there's always something else that needs to be tried and tested.

Demure Vixen is probably the first polish that I was obsessed about because I saw some gorgeous swatches of it and it looked so good that I just had to have it. Like I said, it was also my very first Essie and eventhough I loved it, it still took me couple of years to fell in love with Essies completely.

I thought that Demure Vixen was a perfect polish for this challenge also because of the fact that it has just been sitting in my helmer faithfully for all this years just waiting to be worn again. As soon as I got this on my nails I really remembered why I love it so much. I think it's quite a unique color and it's really hard to describe exactly. I love the muted look of it, it looks almost like a nude, but at the same time there's also something else going on. I also love that subtle shimmer it has and of course that magenta/purple flash that's impossible to capture, at least with my camera and photographing skills.

I also wanted to try out new Born Pretty Store stamping plates that I just got for review. I thought that a lace pattern would go perfectly with Demure Vixen, so I chose that from the plate 02 and stamped it with A England Elaine. I didn't want to cover all my nails completely, so I just stamped the pattern over my middle and ring fingers. Then I felt like my nails still needed something else, so I added few rhinestones. I should really buy more of those quality crystals though, these cheep ones aren't really that nice after you have tried the ones that don't melt because of top coat...

Like I said, I'm not in any way master in stampin, so I'm pretty sure these Born Pretty Plates are great as even I managed to get the image at least somewhat on my nail. And I quite like this lace pattern as it doesn't show those little imperfections too much.

I actually got the a whole set of 10 stamping plates, but I don't surely need them all, so I was thinking that you guys might like them?! That's right, there will be a little giveaway here starting tomorrow, so if you want some plates to yourself be sure to check that out!

Here's everything I used for this manicure:

I really like this manicure and this certainly reminded me that I should definitely wear more those old faithful polishes of mine! Maybe I should do this once in a month or something as it always seems that otherwise I end up only wearing all those new ones and the old faithful ones just end up sitting in my helmer.

Which old faithful ones do you guys own and when have you last worn those?

Disclosure: I have gotten the stamping plate and Sally Hansen Nail Rehab for review. For more information view my disclosure policy

Sokerilakat on kyllä loistavia luottolakkoja, aina nättejä eivätkä välttämättä kaipaa mitään koristeluja. :)

    1. Kiitos, vaikka aina sitä omasta mielestä näkee vaikka mitä vikoja noissakin leimoissa. Mutta mukavaa kuulla, että tykkäsit kynsistä! :)

  5. Ihanat kynnet! Jotenkin kaikki toimii mun makuun - molemmat värilakat, leimat, strassit... Vau!
