It's already week four of the Finnish(able) Nail Art Challenge and I of course have another challenge manicure to share with you guys today. So far I have done all the previous challenge manicures precisely in the order that are in that challenge picture, but this time I wanted to do the second challenge of this week first. So I have my take on the Negative Space to show you today!
First I thought I would do some basic straight negative space lines with nail vinyls and that would be it, but then I thought I should figure out something little bit different. After a bit of googling I found these nails by Alice from One Nail To Rule Them All and I thought it was really cute idea to do some flowers over bare nails, so I decided to do something similar, just only with a bit different colors and using a dotting tool instead of a nail art brush.
If you are not familiar with the negative space nail art yet, it basically means that you do some design on your nail where you leave some part of your nail without nail polish or you remove some part of the polish after painting your nails and leaving a part of your nails exposed.
I didn't actually do this design over my bare nails as I always wear nail polish and because of that, my nails are a bit stained. So I started this look with one coat of Sally Hansen Nail Rehab which has a slight pink hue in it, ergo it makes your nails look like your bare nails, just a bit better. After Nail Rehab I did the white flowers with dotting tool and OPI Angel With a Leadfoot. Then I just added the centers of the flowers with smaller dotting tool and OPI This Gown Needs a Crown. After that I added a coat of top coat and also a coat of matte top coat, because from the beginning I really wanted to do this whole design matte.
I know that you can still see a bit of the staining on my nails in these pictures, but that wasn't really too visible on real life. And I don't really like to buff my nails too much... All in all, I really liked this look, I think it is quite fun take on negative space nail art.
This was actually my first ever try on this negative space trend. I think I'm going to need to try some other designs with this technique too, because this was quite fun!
