Neon Hibiscus Flowers

Finally, I have some nail art to share with you guys! I've been sporting these same nails for a whole week now, so I've really enjoyed this manicure. I saw this tutorial by the talented Katy from Nailed It -blog a while ago and I immediately knew I had to try it myself, so these nails are pretty much copied from that look. I just didn't want to copy everything, so I decided to do only three nails per hand with the flowers and then paint two nails with just plain polish.

So I painted my thumb, middle and ring finger nails with two coats of OPI Angel with a Leadfoot and then I did three coats of Essie Bottle Service on my index fingers and three coats of Essie Bouncer It's Me on my pinky fingers. Then I did the hibiscus flowers just by following the instructions of the tutorial and using both of the neon Essies as well as two other polishes from the same neon collection: Saturday Disco Fever and DJ Play That Song*. Finally I did the yellow parts of the flowers with OPI's I Just Can't Cope-acabana.

Like I said, I really loved this look and this was so easy to do too! Katy's tutorial was truly easy to follow, so be sure to check it out if you want to decorate your nails with some hibiscus flowers.

Coming back from our trip was a bit of a shock weather-wise, since it was really cold and grey here in Finland. These nails were a pretty perfect cure for that, at least with these I still had a bit of summer left! Don't get me wrong, I do love all the fall colors too and fall is actually maybe my favourite season when it comes to nail polish colors, but somehow I just needed still something bright and fun on my nails. Maybe after this I can finally start to move towards more autumn manicures.

Oh and for once I also remembered to take a picture of my thumb nail too:

And here are all the polishes I used:

KBShimmer Basic Training
OPI Angel with a Leadfoot
Essie Bottle Service
Essie Bouncer, It's Me
Essie Saturday Disco Fever
Essie DJ Play That Song
OPI I Just Can't Cope-Acabana
Glisten&Glow HK Girl Top Coat

Have you guys already shifted towards more autumn manicures or are you still sporting neons like I am?

Disclosure: I have originally gotten all the Essie Neon collection polishes used here for review. For more information view my disclosure policy.

  4. Annie, these are really pretty and feminine. You did a lovely job with those hibiscus!! I've moved on to fall colors now, just brighter ones to make the transition easier. I like to save those darker, moodier shades for use maybe starting in October.

    1. Thank you so much Cat! :) I've sported couple more fall appropriate manicures now and I have to say that I do love those darker colors too! Though, like you, I'm saving those moodier shades for later. :)
