Hyvää Vappua! (with Perfect S34 over China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On) and some news

Iloista Vappua! Happy first of May (eve)! Vappu and the Vappu eve is quite a big celebration here in Finland (at least for students) and I've written some general info about it for example here, if you want to check out how some are celebrating it here in Finland. I don't really celebrate Vappu that much, we just watched a nice movie with my boyfriend and tomorrow we're going to make some really good food and maybe even some sugared doughnuts that are also part of the Vappu celebration here (as we have tomorrow is a holiday here in Finland). But basically we're just spending some quality time together..

For me Vappu is really colorful holiday, so I wanted to post a simple glitter layering manicure that I did recently, because I thought it would suit the holiday nicely.

So the glitter is Perfect number (S)34 and I used one coat of it over two coats of China Glaze Keep Calm, Paint On. The glitter is quite simple on with three different colors (green, blue and magenta) of bigger hexagonal glitters and two colors (green and blue) of smaller glitter, but it is nevertheless really pretty. The glitters came out easily from the bottle, but you need to do a little bit of placing if you want the glitter to spread evenly on nail.

I've bought this glitter from beautycosmetic.biz and they have a wide range of these Perfect glitters. I have couple more to show you later!

Also, I have some great news! I posted this to Polish This! Facebook page already, but I thought I should post it here too:

Finnish online store Adenina was looking for some bloggers to do some cooperation with them, and they chose ten(ish) blogs for that and Polish This! is now one of them!

Adenina is a quite new online store, but I've already done couple orders from there and I can certainly recommend it! They ship very quickly and the customer service works really well. They already have polishes from different brands like China Glaze, Orly and a-england and they also have some nail art products too. And as you know, they are also already sponsoring my the giveaway in my blog with one a-england polish.

So if you're not familiar with the store, you should check it out:
http://www.adenina.fi/

(The site is unfortunately in Finnish only and I think they only ship to Finland)

Zoya Blu & Neely (and a total fail with stickers)

Today I have two really pretty spring shades from Zoya to show you guys! Also I have a total fail manicure with them and some nail art stickers, but I'm gonna save that to the end of this post... I wanted to do a manicure with Zoya Blu or Neely, but I just couldn't decide which one of those two to choose, so I decided to use them both:

So I have Blu* on my pinky and middle finger nails (and thumb) and Neely* on my ring and index finger nails. These are both perfect spring colors and they went really well together too. Also they were quite nice quality for a light cremes like this, I only used two coats of each and they applied very easily. Neely is really pretty light green creme, but I really fell in love with Blu as it is the perfect (very) light blue creme!

So at this point the mani was looking good and I originally thought I would add some glitter topper over it and oh boy, I really should have done that! For example L'Oreal Confettis would have looked so nice over these two and it would have been the perfect spring manicure. But no, I decided to use some nail stickers... I thought it would be a great idea since it's been a long time since I've used any stickers, but rest assure that after this I will get rid of all my stickers once and for all and only use water decals in the future!

The stickers are placed a bit weirdly as I was going to continue the mani with some dotting tool or glitter or something, but I wasn't really feeling like doing anything after this happened with the stickers. The mani was completely dry before I placed the stickers and I used a regular top coat over them (not a quick dryer as I know it can cause problems with stickers) and I still ended up with this. It really looked like as the stickers had sunk into the polish and the edges of the stickers looked really disgusting. Also of course on top of all the stickers didn't really stick and the edges kept coming of. And these aren't even some cheap ass ebay stickers, these should be pretty decent. It was just a bit of a bummer that the stickers (or I) ruined the perfectly good mani... Oh well, I prefer water decals anyhow, so for now on I'll be just using them.

*The two Zoya polishes in this post were sent for me to review, for more information see my disclosure policy.

Recent hauls: Kiko, China Glaze, Deborah Lippmann, OPI and more

I have another haul post for you guys today! Some of these polishes you have already seen in my recent stash posts, but I still included them here too. So let's get started!

So first off, three China Glaze OMG collection polishes called 2NITE, LOL and IDK. The Finnish online store Adenina got some of these OMG collection polishes to sale recently so of course I had to buy those that I didn't already have (and for a very reasonable price too!), so the first two are from there. Unfortunately, I had just bought IDK from a private seller before I knew that Adenina would be also selling these, and of course I paid more for it. Oh well, at least I have three new OMG collection polishes! (And I'm sorry to tell you guys that Adenina has only 2Nite left from the OMG collection and also I think they only ship to Finland)

The last China Glaze polish here is Hyper Haute from Tronica collection and it's bought from Adenina too. The lonely OPI is Stranger Tides from the Pirates collection and I bought it from sale from a local store. Actually, I've bought quite many of these pirate polishes lately, I originally thought I wouldn't buy any polishes from that collection, but now I have almost all of them. I'm not that big of a fan of creme polishes, but these are really pretty and they make perfect base colors for different glitters and such.

I already told you that the lovely Akuma Kanji sent me two more of those Kiko Sugar Mat polishes and here they are. These are Spring Green (643) and Golden Mandarin (639). China Glaze and Zoya are bought from a Finnish Facebook group (from different sellers) and they are Techno Teal (from Tronica collection) and Reagan.

The two OPI DS polishes are from Head2Toe Beauty (they have a clearance sale of some OPI polishes for very reasonable price) and these two are DS Passion and DS Treasure. My first Emily de Molly polish is from Norway Nails and this is called Harmony. I also added third Deborah Lippmann polish to my stash, this one is called Rockin' Robin and it's from the this spring's collection called Staccato. (This one was bought from a Finnish online store Love It!)

These are all from Head2Toe Beauty and they came in that same order I made of course. The one lonely Misa is called Fountain of Youth and the (old) OPIs are Windy City Pretty, Dingeridoo You Nails?, 18K Ginza Gold and Sweet As Annie-Thing!

The first two here are my first Gina Tricot polishes and they are called Monaco Blue and Sparkling Hot. I bought them as well as that China Glaze Stellar from the same Finnish Facebook group. Then the last two Essence polishes I got from a tiny swap with a Finnish girl and they are Let's Get Lost and Wake Up!

All the links to the stores in this post are only to help you find them, I don't gain anything if you use them.

Kiko Sugar Mat Mint with OPI GoldenEye

As I promised yesterday, here comes my spiced up mani with Kiko Sugar Mat Mint.

I know that some of probably prefered the basic version of this polish without any glitters or anything like that, but like I said, I prefer these texture polishes with at least somekind of sparkle, so I added some myself. I wanted to combine gold with the mint as I like the combination of those two colors, so I chose OPI GoldenEye for the job and then I just added some of that over the Mint with a sponge. I had very little polish in the sponge, because I didn't want to cover the mint color too much and this also helped to keep the texture effect alive too. And as I wanted the mani still to be textured, I didn't add any top coat.

I really like how this turned out and I do prefer this over the one plain color. Of course it isn't as sparkly as the Sugar Mat polishes with glitter in them, but I still like how the gold looks over the mint. What do you guys think?

Kiko Sugar Mat Burgundy & Mint

Today I have the another two of those Kiko Sugar Mat polishes that I got from the swap. (If you missed the post about the first two, you can check it here).

So the first one is number 645 called Burgundy. I was a bit afraid that this would be too brown for my liking when I fist applied it, but when it dried a bit and all those awesome sparkles started showing I just fell in love with it. It just sooooo gorgeous! And again, the quality was great, I have two coats here with base coat (no top coat) and it went on really nicely.

Again, I have only no top coat versions of this as I really don't want to wear top coat with these. Also, I think the wear is really nice with these, so there's no need to use top coat!

Oh my, it just sooo awesome! Unfortunately, all that sparkle doesn't really translate to the pics, but I hope you can still get the idea how this looks. And again, I'm telling you, if you ever have chance to get these, you really should, these are even more gorgeous that you can imagine!

This second one is number 636 called Mint. This one is just one color without any glitter or shimmer. I asked for this eventhough I was pretty sure that I would like those sparkly ones better, but I thought as the color of this is so bright and fun, that I might still like this. But I do have to say, that I like those sparkly ones better. This is also a bit weird one, as I like this more here now in the pics than when I had it on.

I just wish they had made a sparkly version of this color, that would have been so awesome! Actually, I will have a spiced up version of this to show you tomorrow, so stay tuned!

I used three coats here with base coat (no top coat again). It was quite goor with two coats, but I did three to get the texture everywhere, because with two coats there were some small spots where the polish wasn't so gritty. But other than that, this was also really easy to apply and it dried quite fast too.

I just got two more of these (the sparkly ones) from the really awesome Akuma Kanji, so I still have couple more to show you later!

My Stash: Indie brands, Essie, Color Club, Misa and more

I have the third stash post for you today! In this one I'll show you the third drawer of my Helmer, which has quite many brands in it. I have all my indie polishes in the third drawer as well as all my Essie, Color Club, Misa, American Apparel, Nubar, Kiko, Perfect, Hits, Depend and some other brands too. If you missed the first and second stash post, you can check them here and here. (The first one has also some general info about my stash if you're interested.)

But here's how the third drawer looks like:
So as you can see, this has a bit more of mixed brands than the first two drawers I've shown you. However, I think I need to do some changes soon, as I've been lately more into all the indie polishes and they will soon run out of room here, so I probably have move some polishes around. Also, it might make more sense to have all my a-england polishes here with the indie ones, as they could be also considered (at least somewhat) indie. Anyhow, this is the current situation, so let's see all the polishes, right?!

So let's start with the indie polishes and first off are all my Shimmer Polish lacquers: Candace, Mary, Lucie, Irene and Maria.

More Shimmer Polish lacquers: Nichole, Leslie, Jasmine, Sarah and Julie.

Then all my KBShimmer polishes: Bejeweled, Orange Pop, Diva, Proud Peacock, I Got A Crush On Blue and Iris My Case.

Then I have two WellNails polishes: Nothing symbolic about that... and Christmassy Winter Wonderland, two Lush Lacquer polishes: Mr. Bubble and Seas The Moment, one Rainbow Honey called Sweet Talk and two Pretty Serious polishes: Mummy Mush and Gargoyle Ganache.

Next off are all my Essie polishes: Shine of the Times, Mint Candy Apple, Orange It's Obvious, Lights and Leading Lady.

Essies continue: Action, Guilty Pleasures, Muchi Muchi and Demure Vixen.

I also have the Madison Ave-hue collection that actually isn't in the drawer as they came in the cute box, that doesn't really fit to the drawer, so I'm not still sure where I'll keep them, but anyhow these are: Madison-Avehue, Avenue Maintain, Go Ginza, Maximillian Strasse Her, Bond With Whomever and Hip-Anema.

Then all the Color Club polishes: Starry Temptress Topcoat, Halo-graphic, Blue Heaven, Angel Kiss, Cherubic and Eternal Beauty.

All the rest of the Color Clubs: Beyond The Mistletoe, Gingerbread, Sugarplum Fairy, Cold Metal, Fashion Addict and Wild at Heart.

Next off are all my Misas (I don't know why I have only four of these as I quite like the brand): Greay Matters, Genie in This Bottle,Taking Chances and Live Without Knowing.

Then here's all my Kiko polishes (I wish I had more of these too, well actually, I just got two more of those Sugar Mat polishes, but they weren't here when I took these pics, so I'll show them in a haul post later): Sparkle Touch Multicolour Glitter Ivory (229), Purple Microglitter (255), Sugar Mat Mint (636), Sugar Mat Poppy Red (640), Sugar Mat Strawberry Pink (641), Sugar Mat Burgundy (645).

Then I have four Glitter Gal polishes (I think these have gotten some new and more interesting names, but mine are so old that these have the "boring" names): Copper/3D Holo, Silver 3D/Holo, Black 3D/Holo and Red 3D/Holo.

I also have four Nubar polishes: White Polka Dot, Reclaim, Purple Rain Glitter and Toga Purple.

Then here is my American Apparel polishes: Dance, L'Esprit, Lopez Canyon and Dynasty.

AA continues: Supernova, Violet Panache, Moonlight Beach and Manhattan Beach.

I have also have few Depend polishes, these are really small and cute, but unfortunately these only have numbers: 105, 170, 218, 222, 251, 227, 135, 313 and 351.

I have these five Hits polishes, the first two are from Phenomena collection: Moonbow and Air Glow, then the other three are from Speciallita collection: Apolo, Zeus and Ares. The last one is a brand called Up Colors and the polish is called Azul Arco-Iris.

Then I have these six polishes that are from different brands, but to me they are somewhat special. These are MAC Whirlwind, L'Oreal Confettis, Max Factor Fantasy Fire, Ciaté Pepperminty, Ciate mini Vintage, Layla Ceramic Effect CE52.

And last I have these Perfect glitter (and one metal) polishes (these have again only numbers): S37, S34, S36, S41 and K33.

So, which ones were your favourites? Anything you'd like to own?
Hope you enjoyed this yet another stash post, I have still one left later!

BK Super Matte Surface Oil

Like I told you before, I got two products from Born Pretty Store for a review and I already posted about those nail studs (here), so here comes the review of BK Super Matte Surface Oil that I chose to review along with those studs.

Despite of that little bit strange name, this is a regular matte top coat that you can use over any polish to make it matte. This comes in a round bottle and it has 15 ml (0.5 fl oz) in it. The brush is pretty regular one and it's quite easy to use.

I've been looking for a good matte top coat after my China Glaze Matte Magic became too thick to use, so I wanted to give this one a try. I've tried couple cheaper options that can be bought from the stores here in Finland (Flormar for example), but those didn't really do anything for me and the effect was too weak. I liked the China Glaze one, but it comes in a tinier bottle and like I said, it became too thick to use, so I wanted to try something else. I also don't want to pay too much for a matte top coat as I don't use them that often and I feel like it doesn't really matter which brand it is if it works.

I wasn't expecting too much from this after I had tried some other cheaper stuff, but I have to say that this really works nicely!
Here I have applied the matte top coat over my index and ring fingers nails and the other two have only the polish on them (the polish is Donegal Beauty Shine one). I really like the effect that this top coat does, it makes the polish under it properly matte, but it still doesn't make the polish too dull. It also seems to dry really quickly. The only complaint that I have is the smell, it is quite strong and pretty bad too, but thankfully it doesn't stay in the air too long.

I have here also couple of my recent manis with this matte top coat:
This is Shimmer Polish Mary with the matte top coat. You can check out the shiny version of this mani here.

This is another Shimmer Polish called Candace with the top coat. If you want to see the shiny version, go here.

And lastly, this is KBShimmer Iris My Case with the top coat. I posted the shiny version of this mani yesterday, here.

This matte top coat costs $4.36 at BPS. They have free shipping worldwide and don't forget you can get 10% off everythig with my code:

*Some of the products in this post were sent for me to review, for more information see my disclosure policy.

KBShimmer Iris My Case

As soon as I saw the first pics of KBShimmer spring collection, I knew I had to have Iris My Case as it looked so pretty!

And I certainly wasn't dissapointed when I got this as it looks very pretty in the bottle and even more gorgeous on nail! I have three thin coats here with base and top coat. This was really easy to apply and the glitters came out of the bottle effortlessly. The glitters also spread nicely on nail, so that you don't need to do any extra work placing them. I love polishes like this with some milky base and glitters as they give the instant glitter sandwich look! Very pretty!

I wore this polish to my niece's first birthday on Saturday as I thought this would be the perfect polish for the occasion and it surely was! I also love the fact that there's really no need for any decorations as the polish is so pretty on its own.

Polish This! Birthday Giveaway!

So today is my blog's birthday and I thought it would be nice to celebrate the day with a little giveaway! After all, it would be quite boring to write just to myself, so it's nice once in a while to thank all my lovely readers!

Once again I'm just going to state first that since I'm still living with a student budget, the prize isn't going to be huge, but I think I have some really nice prizes for you guys and I even got one sponsored polish for the giveaway from a Finnish online store Adenina. Let's see the prizes first (but please read all the instructions carefully):

So there will be one winner and she (or he) will win the following items:
- a-england She Walks In Beauty (sponsored by Adenina)
- China Glaze Virtual Violet (bought by me)
- Lavera Basis Sensitive Hand Cream (this I got from the goodie bag from our meeting, but I already have several of these, so I thought I'd give this for someone else to try!)
- mini nail care set from H&M, that includes nailfile, buffer, cuticle pusher and nailbrush (bought by me)
She Walks In Beauty is one of my all time favourite polishes and I think it's a must have for any nail polish lover. (You will of course be getting a new one that Adenina kindly sponsored for this giveaway.) I've also always loved purple polishes and holographic polishes, so I wanted to include something purple and holographic for this giveaway and Virtual Violet from China Glaze's Tronica collection checks that box nicely. And of course everyone needs nail care products and hand creams and these are perfect for travelling or keeping them with you where ever you go as they are so small. Hope you like all the prizes!
You get one entry by participating to the giveaway, but you can also get extra entries too by advertising this giveaway, but this is totally voluntary. I've included Twitter and Facebook as following options in addition to Google Friend Connect (as I know that everybody doesn't use GFC). You can find all the buttons or gadgets to all the three following options from the sidebar on right.
I have a mandatory question about what is the mani that you prefer the most of the ones that I've ever done and you have to answer this question in order to participate the giveaway. I did this mainly because I thought this might reduce the amount of entries that are only interested in this giveaway and nothing else, and as I'm doing the giveaway to thank all my readers, I also want the prize to go to someone who is readring my blog because she (or he) likes it and not just because of the giveaway. New readers are of course welcome, but I hope you all will do just a little bit work and figure out which of my manis do you like the best.
I also added question about your home country to the end of the form just because I'd like to know where my readers come from, but answering that doesn't give any extra entries or isn't in any way mandatory. Also there's a comment box at the end if youd like to say something, but again that's not mandatory or doesn't give any entries.
So here are the rules:
1. You must be a public follower via Google Friend Connect, Twitter or Facebook, new followers are of course welcome. Let me know your GFC name, Twitter name or Facebook name and your e-mail, so I can easily contact the winner. (1 entry)
2. You must name one (or more) of my manis that you've liked the best.
3. I have the right to remove any entry that isn't done by the rules.
4. If the winner doesn't answer to my email within 48 hours, I will draw another winner.
For extra entries:
You can advertise this giveaway in your blog, Twitter or Facebook. You can use the picture too. Please provide a link. (2 entries)

The giveaway is open internationally! To participate just fill the form below.

This giveaway will end on 12th May 2013 at 9PM (EEST).

My Stash: OPI, Nicole by OPI, Orly, a-england and Zoya

I'm so glad you guys liked the first stash post that I did! Now I have the second Helmer drawer to show you with all my OPI, Nicole by OPI, Orly, a-england and Zoya polishes. (If you want to read more general info about my stash and how I organize it and such, check out the first stash post here where I have more info about that.)

So here's how the second drawer looks like:
I really feel like lately Zoya has been my favourite brand, thay have so many gorgeous colors and the quality of the polishes is so great! I just wish they vere a tad cheaper and that they were easier to get here in Finland. I'm also in love with a-england and all those gorgeous polishes they have. I've pretty much gotten every single one that I've really wanted, thought there are still couple more that I'd like to own. I have only few Orly polishes, but I do like the brand. It just feels like many times some other brands have pretty much the same colors to offer and I usually prefer Zoya, China Glaze or OPI over Orly. OPI is of course one of my favourite brands, though lately I've been liking other more.. I don't think they do the most innovative colors out there, but they always have nice quality and some really great colors. And then I have only one Nicole by OPI polish, as they are so hard to get here.

But let's take a closer look to all the polishes, shall we?!
