Barielle Falling Star

I don't have many blue polishes in my stash and it isn't my favourite color on nail or anywhere, but sometimes I like to surprise myself and buy a blue polish. Today I have on to show you.

So this is Barielle Falling Star and I have two coats here, with base and top coat. I saw some pretty swatches of this one and desided to go for it, but somehow I didn't like this as much as I thought. Maybe it's the fact that it's a really blue one and not teal or something like that. I think teals and darker blues are usually the ones for me, this is just too blue if you know what I mean.. The red glitter though makes it more interesting and I really love the name of the polish. Oh and you have to be quite careful when removing this or you will have nice smurf fingers like I did. But it was nothing that a little bit of whitening toothpaste couldn't fix.

The Girl on Fire

I know I'm quite late with this, but I also did a Hunger Games inspired manicure when I went to see the movie. As all you that have read the book know, Katniss had her nails painted with flames on them, so I wanted to something like that too. I also took inspiration from Chloe's Nails as she also used one flamy accent nail and I loved the look. I did do the flame to the other direction as I prefer painting my nails facing that way and I also wanted to have some color on my other nails than just black or grey or something like that. So here's my Hunger Games manicure:

For this manicure I used Orly Iron Butterfly on all my nails except my ring fingers. Then I sponged some China Glaze Riveting and Nfu Oh number 45 over the Iron Butterfly. For the accent nail I started with Essie Orange, It's Obvious, then I did the gradient using Zoya Sooki, CG Riveting and Nfu Oh #45 and then I used black nail art paint to paint the flames. I really liked this manicure, it was quite bad-ass I think, lol. It's not something that I'd wear every day, but for special occation this was fun. Though I have to say that I didn't particularly enjoy the movie, I think it could have been so much better...

Here are the polishes that I used for this mani:
Zoya Sooki; Essie Orange, It's Obvious; China Glaze Riveting; Nfu Of #45; Orly Iron Butterfly

Have you all seen the movie? Did you enjoy it? And have you done a mani inspired by Hunger Games? If so, I'd love to see it!

China Glaze Liquid Crystal

You all have probably noticed that it's been quite quiet here in my blog lately. I'm really sorry about that, but my spring hasn't exactly been like I would have wanted it to. First my grandma died like I told you before. Then before Easter I had to say goodbye to my dog because she had bone cancer and there was nothing that could be done. She was over 15 and half years old, so I was for a while prepared that the end would probably come somewhere near future, but still it came so soon... And I've had her since I was 10 so it was quite devastating. And then, like this wasn't enough, when me and my boyfriend were driving back from our little Easter vacation we had an accident. Thank good nothing happened to anyone, but our car is pretty wrecked and there's been a lot of things to deal with because of the accident. And on top of this all I'm still  trying to keep up with my school because I'm trying to get my degree before the end of the year. Needles to say that I haven't exactly been able to do that... Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know why it's been so quiet here lately. I hope the next thing that happens will be something positive, because I'm not really sure how many bad news I can take. But don't worry, I'm fine, though it's been quite hard.

I do have a polish to show you, so that the post isn't so downbeat.

This is China Glaze Liquid Crystal and I have three coats here with base and top coat. This is unfortunately the only decent pic I have from this mani. I didn't manage the get my camera pic up the nice duochrome that this has even though I tried and took many pics. It's a pretty one, but I think I might like the other three ones better that I have from this collection, I just haven't had time to try out those yet.

I hope that this is the end of all the bad news and I can have more pleasant spring and also keep posting more, because I've been quite bummed out that I haven't had time for this blog. There's also a milestone ahead soon, because in a week it's going to be two years since I started this blog. Maybe I'll think of something fun for you guys to celebrate the day..?

Catherine Arley #801

There's still one Catherine Arley holographic polish in my stash that I haven't yet shown you and well, I have it for you today. I'm really loving the fact that the spring is coming and the sun is shining more. It makes you wanna wear all those amazing holographic polishes!

So this is number 801 and I have two coats here, no base or top coat. This is really one of those colors that are ugly and pretty at the same time. I really liked this one though. The holo effect is quite subtle and scattered, but it's still there giving this polish something extra. In these pics you can still see a bit of the nail line, but I think that third coat would fix that problem. And it wasn't really visible in real life or at least it didn't bother me.

Do you guys like colors like this?
